A funny thing happened on the way to lunch yesterday...
I was off work, and the wife was at home sick. Early in the afternoon, she began having a craving for another one of those Taco Bell "Lux" boxes, and she asked me to go get her one. Yes, dear, you are sick and I will be glad to bring you whatever you want. I drive a couple miles up the street and, for the first time in over five years, step inside a Taco Bell.
It felt awkward. The menu screens are all new (of course), there are computer kiosks for ordering, the wall decor is different from what I last recall, etc. I see a few logos talking about their special 'Decades' menu, featuring previously-deleted items from the '70s, '80s, '90s and (I think) 2000s. Two of these items--the Mexican pizza and the Meximelt--are the very reason I quit coming here back in 2019... and now they're back, at least for a limited time. Maybe it's fate talking to me, telling me I ought to grab some lunch for myself as well. Okay, what the hell.
And that is how/why I ate Taco Bell for the first time since August 2019.
