So on day 1 we have the Musk sieg heil, we get the Klu Tang Klan pardoned, we have the world's richest billionaires (that paid for the election) front row, in front of government officials, a promise to go to Mars (because Americans can't afford healthcare or rent, so let's stop sending money to Ukraine and Israel and instead give it to Musk to colonize ****ing Mars)...and I'm to believe this is the regime that is going to weed out the corruption? lol. Man, I wish I wouldn't have tuned into the news yesterday. I was much happier without it.

On that note, I'm going back to my hole.

My kids learned a song in school many years ago. It went something like "Hyperbole, hyperbole, it means exaggeration".

I think it applies well here.

This was your first mistake. You got sold a version of events from a bunch of angry losers.
I mean...angry losers? Trump's followers are the angriest, sorest, most comically hypocritical losers possibly in all of American political history lol.

There are definitely people that bought a version of the truth and are so convinced by it, that when something contrary is right in front of their face they can't even recognize it. It's sad to see smart people working so hard to convince themselves that this is ok.

Yes, I recall one as well. Something like "walk like a duck, talk like a duck...." ha ha.

But yes, obviously DJT has the very best hyperbole. Etymologists would even say that Trump's ancestors invented hyperbole, and his is the best they've ever seen in all of history. I don't know, that's just what they say.

Sadly, this is not limited to one side. As I posted a week or so ago, people, mostly on the left are super pissed that Facebook isn't going to censor people. There are a lot of people claiming it coincides with Trump coming into office, like FB was aiding and abetting Republican's with their censorship. The cognitive dissonance of the average American is disheartening to say the least.

One could make a solid argument that it isn't hypocrisy in many instances. It's just a repeat of the parties swapping sides like they did back in the early 20th century.

It's hard to overlook things like this

Yes, I do agree with this for sure. Both sides are hypocrites. Obviously Musk censors X exactly how he wants, and FB censors Meta how they want (or did). The irony is Musk bought X under the premise that he wanted it to be uncensored, and now it's more censored. People are OK with censorship as long is it's censoring the people they don't agree with. Stupid.

The working class is about to get absolutely crushed, IMO. I'm already getting invoices from suppliers that are starting to line-item the tariffs on imported goods. I'm super worried about another round of really awful inflation...after I just barely found reasonably solid ground following the last round of it. Most people aren't in a position to weather another storm like that....but the rich sure are and the rich know exactly how to consolidate more wealth when the lower classes struggle.

This is true. Musk went on a huge banning streak a few weeks ago because a bunch of people disagreed with his stance on H1B. It was insane and asinine. Musk and Zuck can bend each other over on mars for all I care.

It's interesting how different industries are going to be affected by tariffs. I've been in semiconductors most of my adult life. The amount of money stolen from my industry by IP theft from China is mind boggling and needs to be stopped. Not sure effective the tariffs will be but something needs to stop the Chinese, American consumers sure aren't going to.

Tariffs won't stop IP theft. We are not an industrial nation any more. We don't have access to inexpensive labor to compete in that way, so we have to rely on other industrial nations for those products. The inexpensive labor we do have is being shown it's way out the door from the sounds of things.

How will anyone be able to afford a $2500 rent payment when they are making $8/hour to manufacture widgets, so the middle class can afford the widgets, so that the rich can still make profits from selling the widgets? That math don't be mathin.

American consumers are going to foot the bill for tariffs, and that's going to drive the price of goods up, and that's going to reduce spending, and that's going to put small business out of business, and that's going to drive up unemployment. That's like how to build a recession 101.

Let's see the video of those salutes. Are they just taken from the process of someone just waiving to a crowd, or are they a full on sieg heil?

That's how you manipulate things man. Context is important. There is certainly a moment of time where someone raising their arm to waive at a crowd looks like the same thing, but is very different than the motion that Musk did.

Shhhhhhh. That logic doesn't belong anywhere near these political threads

Is that not exactly what happened with Musk?

I know people at Pacificorp and had a long chat with a higher-up about how they’re taking great lengths to bury lines or update poles all over. He said they’re getting killed by lawsuits due to fires if there’s any chance they were caused by power lines.
Most lines in San Diego are steel at this point. But that’s only because a giant fire in 2003 burned them all down and SDG&E replaced them all with steel poles. But even with that, they still turn off grid power during high winds. My poor mom sits there and freezes in her house due to her health issues when it happens, and they have no idea when the power will come back on. And no, there’s no competnsation for the inconvenience.

Seeing as you are all intelligent enough to build a crawler, and I actually have to see your smiling faces in person, this thread actually makes me rethink more of my ingrained programming and figure out if Cody is dumb or if my programmer missed a space somewhere. It's 50/50 so far.

Logic? LOGIC? hahaha

Elon claims to be part Jewish. So I guess he's "literally Hitler" somehow according to the "logic" being presented.

Watch the full video and not the media clipped version, ya tards. The dude is an autistic spaz that is completely out of touch from the common person.

None of us are dumb. We just have different viewpoints and backgrounds that have led us to see what we see with current events. I certainly hope that even though I'm probably a huge douche in this thread that I'd still be able to hang out and shoot the shit with nearly everybody on this forum.

Cody has a point about these technocrat bastards standing there during the inauguration, but I do not agree with his view on the tariffs and many of the other issues. I see a much bigger play here from a historical standpoint. He sees a pending direct impact. I agree, that's scary and I'm really hoping that his worries are unmerited. The working class is who put Trump back in office.

It will also be fun to come back in a year an make fun of each other.

I think this is what you're saying....but Hitler was also of at least 50% Jewish lineage.

No, that was straight up a ****ing nazi salute ha ha. It's certainly possibly that's not what he meant by it and he was just amped up at how much more money he'll make with DJT in office.

I just hope we don't normalize hate again like we did during his first term.

I'm not sure what you're saying, so I'm probably dumb.

What about the last minute pardons for the Biden family, Fauci, J 6 committee? Hmmm, why would they need protection. If they fear revenge prosecutions and they were innocent why would they need pardons?

Are you going to hold to that same standard now that Trump has issued around 1,500 pardons related to Jan 6th?

Tarrifs do not apply to that situation.

What tarrifs are designed to do is make imports more so less efficient US companies can sell more of their higher priced products.

Consumers pay more either way (Trump is 100% wrong when he claims foreign governments will pay the tarrifs).

And without question those higher prices will impact lower and middle income households far more than the wealthy.

Are you going to provide any insight or just point blame to the next guy?

Or should I point fingers also and say most those people should have never been in a position to receive a pardon. But heaven forbid any BLM protestors or others like them we never held responsible for anything.
