As others have said, you're going against the traffic. Salt lake to Layton is easy in the morning, and Layton to Salt Lake is easy in the afternoon. Leave at 7 to be safe the first day. Adjust if necessary after that.

3/16 is perfect. Make inner and outer plates. Weld in sleeves for all the bolts that will go through the frame. Otherwise you will just crush the frame and the bolts will get loose.

Thanks for looking! I've got a lot of bows on my watch list. I'm concerned that particular bow may be too heavy (4.5 pounds) for an 8-year-old. The other bows I'm looking at are around 3 pounds.

They have the Apprentice and Ruckus youth bows new, but nothing used. There has to be a vast reservoir of barely-used youth bows somewhere...
