    What are you watching?

I watched the first two episodes last night and thought they were good. They kind of jumped right in to the action. I'm used to getting strung along for a whole season just for thinhs to pick up in the last 5 minutes of the finale...

    2024 Bag Night Challenge

I got 1 night last weekend in Ophir with some young men. There was 18-24" of snow and I forgot the bin with all the utensils and cooking stuff so I had to do a run into Tooele for supplies. It was 18° when I got back to camp at 9:30 pm. The camp fire kept us warm. It was a good night.

    Funny, personal story...

Apparently I peed on the dishwasher and in the coat closet on different occasions while asleep as a child. I have no recollection of either incident.

What books are you reading (or listening to?)

I’m on page 546 of 1187. It’s dragged in spots and I’ve been happy to put it down but have found myself going back to it. The mantle of the prophet is dragging right now too so I went back to the Count but my wife picked up a couple paper book holds for me on Saturday. I started Tai-Pan today at...

What books are you reading (or listening to?)

I didn't think I'd be the guy (like @Stephen) juggling several partially read books while starting new ones but, alas, I am. I just finished "House to House" by David Bellavia. It talks about the beginning of the battle of Fallujah. He received the medal of honor. Interesting read, pretty...

Morbid question: are Viking funerals illegal?

I want to be cremated then have some of my ashes put in a lamp and given to my children so I'll stay in the box from the mortuary in the garage. Oh wait. Thats what happened with my MIL. Full disclosure though, its my SIL's lamp that is in my garage because she lives in Rhode Island and didn't...

    Official Moderator Changes on RME

Tell that to my 3 year old, and every other child. He opposes everthing, every Sunday.

    Official Moderator Changes on RME

There is no Mazda Miata or any suzukis on that site. Does that mean they arent any good. I'm confused.

2 million miles, a cake, and not really a pay cut.

That's cool. So the quickest way to drive for Walmart is to work as a cashier or something for a year then apply to the a2d program and spend 3 months with you. Is it pretty competitive to get accepted into the program? Maybe weighted based on time with the company. Interesting. I'm...

2 million miles, a cake, and not really a pay cut.

So I'm a little confused on who you're training @Hickey. (Your regular gig, not this special trip to the mothership.) That linked article says in a 12 week program supply chain associates earn a CDL but you've also said Wally requires 30 months of class A driving experience. Are you getting them...

    Political So now what

I don't think I'd be fit for the border. I'd settle for FBI director if CIA is unavailable.

    Political So now what

Can I be CIA director please? There are a couple files I want to look at.

    Pellet Smokers; Dumping the Traeger

I ran out of propane a couple weeks ago and had to cook steak on the cooktop. It was also lame.

    The coyote or fox game

My co-worker lives south west of you and borders the corridor. He's got the ornamental iron fence in his back yard. He's told me that there is a family of foxes that live in the weeds and brush behind his place.

    Concrete Anchors for Heavy Tools

My dad has a hilti hammer drill that my grandpa used to use for work. I need to get over to borrow it to see what size bits he has for it then I was going to go from there. My wood risers to the top of the foot is 2.5" and the documentation I saw yesterday said the redhead ones need to go in...

    Concrete Anchors for Heavy Tools

I think I am ready to anchor my wood lathe to the concrete in my garage. The lathe feet have holes drilled for what I assume are anchors but they aren't very big. The tool is super stable and I'm just hoping to keep it from walking around the garage while I'm turning something lopsided. I'm...

What books are you reading (or listening to?)

I finished Unbroken last night and I've got the same feeling. I don't have the physical or mental strength to deal with either of those situations.

What books are you reading (or listening to?)

I was able to borrow Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand from the library so I started that. Its about the crew of a plane that crashed into the Pacific Ocean in May 1943. The thing I found interesting is the introduction of Luis Zamperini who was a runner and made the Olympic team for the Berlin...

What books are you reading (or listening to?)

I didn't know he was a POW. My great grandpa was also a POW in Japan. I don't remember much about him but my dad had told me he was always sick because of that and when he got home they had to remove most of his intestines. Maybe I'll give king rat another go. It took me a minute to figure...
