Radiator transmission cooler as power steering cooler?

When I was moving cross country, I was driving an 84 F250 with a straight axle swap and 35s, towing a trailer. I lost power steering just before crossing from Connecticut into New York, and found a plastic bag wrapped around the power steering cooler. This was about 100 miles into the trip...

Radiator transmission cooler as power steering cooler?

I do also have a cooler about twice the size of the pictured one kicking around, but that involves buying hose, mounting it, etc. I guess I can go that route, I didn't think the output side of the radiator would be that warm.

Radiator transmission cooler as power steering cooler?

Truck is a 71 F250 body on an 85 F250 chassis with an 89 7.3IDI and ZF 5speed. The typical Ford power steering "cooler" loops on the front crossmember is in rough shape. I'd also like to mount my electric lift pump right where that cooler is. I put a new radiator in this thing, and it has a...

    2011 cummins

The power steering pump also provides fluid to the brake hydroboost system. IIRC the rpms on that drop to 500 in reverse, if the power steering pump is worn then it may not be able to provide enough pressure/flow to maintain the boost in reverse.

    New Ford 7.3L Gasser

I'm waiting for the new Ford chassis to get here, supposedly the 7.3 is replacing the V10. I love the sound of the V10, but a big 8 might be interesting.

"The American Life Is Killing You"

I'd be so happy if I could just have a nice 40x60 or so shop with some form of living quarters off it. Even just a decent RV. Enough work to keep the lights on, and to afford to tinker on my projects, take off for the day when I feel like it, etc. Unfortunately, my wife and kids don't follow...

    Today I Want This....

If it was based on an Isuzu, yes, but those Fusos are notoriously unreliable, the proper scanning software is dealer only, and parts are very expensive. The biggest issues are from the emissions system, and with that right around the end of the warranty I'd pass. It is cool, though.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Is that a self contained setup, or does it need to be networked? Might be a neat option for a street rod that needs to be a bit cleaner than hydraulic lines would allow. Stuff that under the dash and it'd be good to go.

For Sale 2002 Explorer rear center section

3.73 gears, limited slip, trashed. Carrier and housing should be salvageable, bad bearings, bad spider gears, pattern is wiped. I planned on rebuilding, but I threw in a junkyard unit.

    24v ECM failure

Does yours still have the electric lift pump just below the fuel filter? Those are a very common cause of ECM failure as they are powered and grounded straight through the ECM. Use the ECM outputs to trigger a relay, and run power and ground from the battery for it with a 30amp fuse.

For Sale D60 3.54 gears new in box

Motive Gear brand, new in box from about five years ago. Looks like they go for around $220 now, I'll take $150 shipped. These were for my 69 F250 diesel conversion, it had a 3.73 rear but then I ended up starting over on the whole truck. I don't have anything with a D60 anymore.
