Glad everyone's OK. Right after getting married my wife did the same thing to our Toyota truck w/ me in between it and my 73 Nova SS. I jumped into the air and got out of the way. The Nova's hood and grill weren't so lucky:( I still bring it up every so often:D

The heads have to come off to do any work on the valves. I had a machine shop work on mine when I rebuilt a 350 years ago. Depending on the position of the cam some of the valves would be open = letting a little oil inside the cylinders. That would be my guess. I would probably run it as is...

IH trucks used them until the early 70's. I don't know the cut over year for them. My 71 had closed knuckles and my 74 truck had open knuckles. I think Chevy and Dodge were about the same.
