Toyota/22RE experts, advise needed. May need bottom end rebuilt... or motor swap

I have a new (~10k on it) head from engnbldr and his 261 "crawler" cam as well as a throley header. I'm thinking about just boring out .040 over, bumping the compression a tick (don't see compression info on engnbldr) and rebuilding the bottom end since the top end is essentially new. In theory...

Toyota/22RE experts, advise needed. May need bottom end rebuilt... or motor swap

Here's the history of the truck, 93' pickup with a 22re. Currently has about 170k on it. 4 years/10k ago I tested the compression and it was low but I can't remember exact numbers. I want to say that one of my cylinders was down around 130 and the rest about 150. I put a new engine builder head...

    FZJ-80 Axles - preferably no e-lockers

Was it the white one? I went to the pick n pull that had a cruiser about eight hours after it arrived and the 3rds were already grabbed.

    FZJ-80 Axles - preferably no e-lockers

Looking for some FZJ-80 Axles - preferably no e-lockers. I had a set a few years back but had to move and so I sold them for cheap. Hoping that I can find a set for this summer's project.

    Welding night!

Thanks for the response, absolutely right, Home Depot and Lowes don't carry the big boy spools and the Miller 250 I'm working with doesn't have the second smaller spindle for the tiny spools.

    Welding night!

For those of you in the know, is there a welding supply store closer to Sandy or better than the Praxair in Salt Lake? I need to pickup a 33lb spool of .035 solid and google has a bunch of places that are closed.

    Learning to weld

With thin metal you'll obviously want less juice and depending on your ability to weld slower feed as well. Use the recommendations for your welder and adjust to your ability. I typically run slower feed (~25% slower) and a bit higher amperage than what the Miller 250 I've been using calls for...

    Learning to weld

I'm currently learning to weld as well, nice to see the progress on here, I'm hopeful that in time I'll be able to lay down some decent welds. Edit: We have at a Miller 250 at the school I work at and it looks like the kids have destroyed the tip that is currently on it (there was also a...

    Off Road Alaska television show

I watched two episodes and am blown away at how unprepared they are an how under built the rigs are... wow... really paints a terrible picture for us all.

    KSL: Rollover @ the B

From the one picture the cage didn't look super compromised, I wonder exactly how they died and what could have been done to prevent it. I have two small children and one on the way and would like to one day start wheeling as a family but obviously want to be as safe as possible. Stories like...

    Buying steel locally?

So I just got a quote from Tripple-S and everything she (Stephanie) quoted me is in the .71-.80 a pound range. That sounds high to me but I haven't purchased anything in a few years. Thoughts? I still need to call midnight and a few other places like wasatch and metalmart. Edit: Mark at...

    Where is this? The game...

Once you past the waterfall bell canyon gets really fun, especially if you're hiking in early summer or late spring when there is snow. It's a really beautiful area up there.

    Where is this? The game...

Close enough. It's above upper bell canyon reservoir.

You're in the right general area but looking in the wrong direction. Clear as mud?
