I hesitate to share this with you guys...

... because I'm sure somebody here is going to replicate it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5CYmklIx5Q After all, who among us doesn't want a monster go-kart?

    5 mile rattles and constricts

Yeah, everything just clicked on this run. It was awesome. The purpose of the trip was to take my co-worker on his first 4WD excursion ever. He has owned 4WD pickups (and now owns one), and he recently purchased an all-stock '07 JKU X. Still, he has never done anything more than a graded...

    Mandrel Bends and silicone couplers

Of course. Sometimes it's worth it for the shock factor alone. When they hear how much boost you're running, the looks some guys give you are priceless.

    Mandrel Bends and silicone couplers

Do tell. How much of a temp difference did you see? And how much boost were you running? I admit I tend to think in terms of gasoline engines rather than diesel engines. Still, I did run as much as 24 psi in my old Dodge Caravan drag van.

    Mandrel Bends and silicone couplers

This is a common misconception. The intercooler core is where all the magic happens; the charge tubes themselves don't contribute any significant temperature drop. There are two reasons for this: #1: unlike an intercooler core, charge tubes are not comprised of numerous narrow passages chock...

    Car dolly to use

Sorry I'm late to the party, gang. Reading through this thread, I felt I ought to say a few things. Great! Put some thought into this--it will only increase your ultimate satisfaction with whatever you purchase. Snap decisions involving "rough" vehicles that needs lots of work often end...

    Archived Moab Easter Week 2014

I have a new dash cam I will install for the trip. This will give me footage from Cliff Hanger and also Elephant Hill... and maybe of the trip there and back if I put the camera in the Suburban and figure out how to edit the footage into a time lapse video.

Need some help gettting a powerchair from Las Vegas to Tooele

What are the (exact) dimensions of the chair? I'll be driving from LA to Lehi on March 28th, but I don't know if the chair will fit in my vehicle.

6.0 GM gasser motors-high mileage? Please edumacate me on GM trucks circa 2000ish

A couple months ago, I wrote the following in another car forum. Since it relates to the above, I thought I'd copy-n-paste it here. (I hope I don't offend anyone.) test drive car review: 2000 Ford Excursion V10 A couple weeks ago, we took in a pristine 2000 Ford Excursion Limited. It was...

I may have something for you, Bart. I'll give you a call this morning.

6.0 GM gasser motors-high mileage? Please edumacate me on GM trucks circa 2000ish

I'm guessing Marc is well aware of this, if for no other reason than my 8.1L Suburban. FYI: my last two fillups in the Suburban have involved zero towing, and those tanks averaged 11.9 and 12.0 mpg. The downside to the biggest engine is the fuel economy when you're unladen. If the tow rig...

    Maverick's kid's YJ build

When this happened to me way back in the day ('88 XJ), I figured the LockRite had somehow failed. After I drove home and then drove it to Matt for disassembly and inspection, I learned it was because I broke an axle shaft--the LockRite was completely unharmed. One new axle shaft later and I...

    Longtravel Car?

A late-model Subaru really is the closest vehicle to your ideal. Subaru even refers to their lifted models as having a "long travel" suspension which, while not equal to a Raptor, will outperform just about any other stock comparable vehicle. This will hit virtually all nine of your original...

The PAVEMENT thread: Cars, Racing, Drives, Speed...

Not quite. I still need some minor engine pieces (front accessory drive stuff) and an ECU. Most of the rest that I don't have is stuff that needs to be fabbed--trans mount, exhaust, those sorts of things. I haven't bought these pieces only because they are not what is holding me up at the moment.

The PAVEMENT thread: Cars, Racing, Drives, Speed...

Oh, I'm definitely motivated to finish it. I honestly think I can have it done sometime this summer, though it is difficult to pin down an exact date since I'm also at the mercy of a friend. He is making progress toward being able to work on it with me (he just bought another lift to install...

The PAVEMENT thread: Cars, Racing, Drives, Speed...

I'm somewhat depressed. Two weeks ago, I sold my beloved Mustang GT. Since my Miata project is nowhere near completion, this means I have been reduced to daily driving my Wrangler. I love that Jeep, but this isn't quite the right season for maximum daily enjoyment... and 14 mpg isn't all...

    tj rear seat

Mine is tan and is cloth (not vinyl). It is in great shape--no tears or rips. I think I still have the mounting brackets for it as well; they will go with the seat.
