I'm in Layton too. Great areas and miles of roads up behind Logan area - Providence Canyon included. Skyline above Farmington/Boutiful is easy but very picturesque, with some harder offshoots. West desert is a fun place.
Running Skyline from Farmington side over to Bountiful, tomorrow Friday, Oct 11th. Hit trailhead about 11am, depending on when I get my rig back. Will probably play around by the B too.
Hi guys. Back from Maine, father-in-law stable. I've run through the list of house projects, and now...
Interesting... A post that I started just to see who else was out there that was sitting at home or working w/o pay has somehow turned into a bash against those of us that are being impacted.
I never said I was losing my home, implied that I was somehow better than non-gov workers, or...
While the South Park comic is kinda funny, myself along with others work for the Gov because that's the job we found when we needed one.
As for back pay - I'm a contractor and won't get it, and were told that if we did work there wasn't much chance we would. Actual Gov employees, yes...
I live in Layton just off of the Layton Parkway exit. My wife and I commute together. If we leave our place at 7am, I can have her at the U by 7:40. If I just go to my work out just past the airport, 25 minutes tops. Downtown 20-25 minutes. Coming home in the evening is about 40 minutes...
Just wondered if anyone else was sitting at home -- or worse, working without getting paid -- due to the Government shutdown? I was deemed "non-essential", thus I sit at home. I did go fishing today, but still.... If anyone wants to get out wheeling, it isn't like I'm doing...
Back. Well, almost. Boarding in Atlanta.
Thanks for he love guys, FIL is doing better, should be in intensive rehab shortly and then start treatment. He's upbeat and no reason for us not to match that enthusiasm. We know the outcome but are oka with today.
I could use a run. Get out, get...
Thanks guys, means a lot.
After being here and talking with the doctors (info directly instead of filtered) I'm more confident. He's got some excellent physicians. I know the reality that awaits, but still optimistic.
Thanks. One minute everything is fine, the next father-in-law is being told he has cancer and won't make it to see the new year.... Feels like someone kicked me in the stomach.
Wife will most likely stay out there a while... I'm gonna need a ride when I get back. Clear my head.
Boys, I'm going to have to cancel. I just got a call from my wife, my father-in-law isn't doing well and they just got full pathology back. He's months to live, maybe just weeks. I'm flying back to Maine as soon as I can grab a flight.
Appreciate the willingness to show me a good time...
Should we say 10am then, or would either of you like later? I have the whole day off, so it makes no difference to me.
And are we setting an opt-out? Pouring so hard you can't see and we call it, or change locations...?
Cool. Add the rain for some additional drama, sounds like a good time. I can meet any time, really. I'll be coming down from Layton, but don't mind getting up a bit early.
Out of curiosity, how much damage can I expect? Sliders are on the wish list but I've yet to pull the trigger! I'm a few inches above a stock Trooper when suspension/tires are figured in.
That won't keep me from going of course. My rig is 20+ years old, so I'm not as protective as I would be...
