yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

Okay, I got home and tuned in until I picked up a signal. I then switched up to 146.760 and--what do you know--there was the same signal. Mystery solved. At least now I know what to program. That would be awesome, thanks.

yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

Well, that would certainly explain things. Maybe my radio is off a bit? Yes, I have a hardcopy printout of that entire list. :D

yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

Okay, I have picked up on this at times. Thanks for the tip, no matter how obvious it should have been to me. ;) And yet I am still confused. I know the UV-5R is tricky to program manually, so I will be buying the interface cable and downloading software to assist me. But in the mean time, I...

Northern Utah First Tracks 2014 up Snakes, 5th annual New Years Day Run w/ Dirt Hedz!!!

I went to hook up my trailer this morning (since I'm working into the evening) only to find out my gate is frozen shut. :( Guess I'll be Jeeping without a safety net tomorrow.

Why so early this year? Last year (well, I mean earlier this year) we started two hours later.

PM received; I'll call you tomorrow (from work).

Anyone dealt with a factory warranty?

Dirty little secret: my desk is actually in the Subaru building. (Don't tell anyone on RME, though!) Since I can cross-sell any of our vehicles, this really is insignificant. And when it comes to service, I can also get involved no matter what the brand of vehicle. I have lots of flexibility...

Anyone dealt with a factory warranty?

Gee, wouldn't it be nice if you knew somebody who worked at your local Subaru store? ;) On the surface, it sounds like it should be covered by the powertrain warranty. However, the ultimate call--and most people don't seem to comprehend this--is made by the manufacturer. (After all...

yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

After months of having a ticket but no radio, I just received a Baofeng UV-5RA as a gift. Yes, it is Chinese. Yes, it was insanely cheap. But, who cares--it seems to work just fine for what it is. This little HT operates on 2m as well as 70cm, which I really adore. No, it isn't the...

    Engine Swaps and Passing Emissions

By legal definition, your car is supposed to have EGR on it. However, the department of air quality is willing to waive some smog equipment requirements provided you (a) disclose their removal and (b) demonstrate that the resulting engine runs at least as clean--if not cleaner--after the...

    Engine Swaps and Passing Emissions

Front (aftermarket tubular) subframe--we need to test fit the engine so we can decide where/how to attach the engine mounts, then remove the engine and weld on said engine mounts. Then I'll have the subframe powdercoated, bolt it in, and insert the engine. This will then allow us to deduce...

    Engine Swaps and Passing Emissions

Yes, though it is just gathering dust in a friend's shop while I wait for him to have free time to do some welding for me. :(

    Engine Swaps and Passing Emissions

(raises hand) Oh! Oh! I can help!!! :) Be smart: contact the local division of Air Quality in advance. Tell them what you have and what you're planning. They ought to be happy to give you advice and let you know what it will take for the end result to be smog legal. I did exactly this...

new thoughts on owning/driving an old musclecar

Oh, I definitely won't have that problem. The last time I owned only one running car was all the way back in 1998. Right now, for example, I have four running cars plus one non-running project. If I ended up with a muscle car--Charger or not--I would undoubtedly have a few other cars to drive...

new thoughts on owning/driving an old musclecar

Thank you for pointing out what should be obvious. Still, I can field his question myself. I am of the age which was impacted by DoH, and I fully admit there is an undeniable influence from that show. Nevertheless, my answer to your question is plain: that's the Charger generation I like...

new thoughts on owning/driving an old musclecar

I love the 68-70 Charger, and I've always wanted one. Who doesn't? The thing that has always kept me from getting one is the outrageously high buy-in... along with the cost of a proper restoration. I just can't justify spending that much money on an old car--or any car--no matter how much I...
