Got to thinking that is probably why they wanted to get it out now instead of waiting for more snow melt. As long as was entombed in snow, suspect damage would be minimal. Wait for thaw and let all that snow melt drip in to everything and it won't be good.

Big difference of wet vs dry sand!

Buried a Ram diesel in the sand at Lake Powell a few years ago. Big, heavy trucks and dry sand just don't go well together.

There are a few of us here that live in Grantsville. The only reason I would say not to do it is to keep growth down.... Stansbury Park/Erda/Grantsville all good options for working at the airport. Magna also very easy access and not stuck living in the middle of the valley.

Unclear of mine location and how long abandoned. Older shafts can become key wildlife habitat- mostly bats which is one of the reasons some are gated instead of blocked off when closed. Too little known to say if should be seen as acceptable or not.
