So looking at turbos. This engine used a T3 turbo with about 8 psi to make 125 hp.
I'm looking at a T3/T4 hybrid or just thought about using a Holset HX35. All will bolt up with minimal effort. I want to run 15-18 psi with the fuel pump turned up and an intercooler. I'd like to hit 200 hp.
Asking $400, its what I have into it. Its a complete motor, all accessories, AC, Alternator, EFI stuff, Wiring Harness, Power Steering, Exhaust Manifolds, ETC. Starter flywheel
Located in Layton Ut. It came out of a Chevy Van with an Automatic.
Replaced the hubs tonight. The driverside was pretty much dead as I suspected. It sounded pretty crunchy when I pulled it out and turned it by hand. No more ABS lights. I'm only out 2 hours of my time and $150. Not bad.
I've been doing a lot of reading. I've seen one guy that modified the injection pump and added a Holset turbo, and an intercooler. He was boosting his to about 15 or more PSI. The truck was pretty fast like that.
I think with some good tuning, it can be a decent engine. Just not sure what...
Last thing to do to this thing besides change the transmission fluid. The front hubs are shot after 170K miles. I can't get my abs sensors to work anymore. So my dash has been a Christmas tree for awhile. New front shiny hubs with new ABS sensors.
Thinking about regearing and going up to 33"...
So that other engine was gay.
So I got this for $150. I'm selling the 350 V8, or shall we say, trading it for another Land Rover Discovery 2.
OM617. Now i just need a turbo, and adapter for the 4hp22 transmission. Gas mileage and I'm going to tweak it to run on 15 psi of boost for power.
Tranny has 167k. I don't think it's been done forever. I'm kind of scared to do it. Should probably just leave well enough alone. That's why I've never done it to this disco. The only fluid that has not been changed on it.
Did some maintenance today. I'm now at 167k miles.
Replaced the heater core, replace some exhaust gaskets, new tensioner and pullies and put in a new driverside motor mount.
Its like a new truck. I just need to change the transmission fluid before winter sets in.
No it's not chipped like my Range Rover was. I have a spare key, but I leave it at home. I guess it's time to make another spare and tie it onto the frame.
