I cheated. I've never been there. I saw Castle Rock and the La Sals in the background and used those two landmarks to estimate a location on a topo map. I'll go look for a pic to post.

There are many reasons why the FS is not motivated to open the road even though the private land issue has been resolved. A few in no particular order: 1. Why would we open Pittsburgh Lake considering all the damage and overuse at Forest Lake? 2. We have a difficult time effectively...

It all comes down to private groups that need to step up and assist the BLM/FS with things they can't afford or do for themselves.

I've been a proponent of the increase. They want to make all the local fee demo programs charge the same price. I really doubt that the increase will reduce the number of visitors by very much. Some people will complain, but they'll still pay the $6. If it was raised to $15 for a 3-day pass...

According to their website it's on at 9 and 11 AM on Sunday on channel 4. Next week will be the NPLD story, then the week after will be some stuff about the Moab RMP, and then I think the week after that will be our story from AF Canyon.

I think those slides have been there a while. Was it clear to where you could drive to the mine? I was up there on 8/15 with some rented ATVs and friends from out of town. We parked at the first slide and walked the rest of the way. Looked way to scary to drive on.
