Well, its pretty much down to finishing fuel and brakes lines, and the time consuming wiring of everything. However, the end is near.

You're right, and that was probably wasn't a fair statement. They did have the rights to produce Willy's type vehicles, but didn't they also have a line of utility vehicles that were just different enough that they didn't need approval? My web search is on...
OK, here's a pic of the hydraulic assist ram and some rear axle/suspension components. The rear shafts are in and the rear axle/suspension is done minus a driveshaft and limit straps (both arriving tomorrow).

FYI, the vehicle has a complete Howe ram-assist system, but the fittings in the Scout box point towards the inside, so you cannot see them in the pics shown.
You're right about the increase in overall strength, but the idea was to give the fenders some added support in the event of rubbing them up against obstacles, yet still having a stock appearing fender "look". Basically, it was a compromise.
