South-East Utah Moab with JP magazine trail ride in October

All these trails will be new to me, and I'm looking forward to them all. BTW: any word on what time the festivities will be starting on Thursday? I need to know so I can plan my arrival in town.

I have arranged the time off work and I've cleared it with my wife, so I am officially in. :)

Hmm, I'd like to make an appearance for this event. If my TJ is too clean in the above photo, here I am a bit dusty on the Hanging Tree Trail:

I'm sure you're sick of me saying it, but I absolutely adore Fender. What a great trail companion. (Of course, I'm a dog guy in general... but, still.)

    AF Canyon Saturday Sept 22nd

Somewhere I have VHS video footage of a former co-worker who went wheeling in his RegCab Ram 1500 with my friend Mark and I. He managed to get properly high centered on a rock, so I grabbed my strap and hooked him up to my (then) XJ 4.0L. I couldn't make him budge, so then Mark also hooked up...

    AF Canyon Saturday Sept 22nd

Your gearing is certainly sufficient for this trail, so overall you have the capability to make it up there. My main question is this: would the trip be a total disaster if you got body damage? I'm only going off your tiny avatar picture, but I don't see any armor on there at all... and, even...

    Rubicon Trail, Sept 5-8 2012

You said it, Bart. I used to check in on this thread at least twice a day, eagerly anticipating the bazillion photos everyone else took of this trip. As soon as I saw that Steve was still working on his video of the Hole in the Rock trip way back in March (!), well, I realized it might be a...

Who else will be there with you? Any local(s)?

FYI: I invited four friends. So far I have one definite confirmation (YJ which really isn't street legal anymore), one probably (XJ on 35s, locked f&r), and two maybes (TJ on 33s locked f&r, 4Runner locked rear). I presume we will meet at the Maverick in Ephraim. What time? 8:30?

Excellent. I'll be there, and I'm inviting a couple of friends to come along (in their own rigs) as well.

I can probably make it, depending on the exact date. Will it be Sept 16th? Or Sept 23rd? If so, I'm there. It's a long story; we'll have to talk.

I'd love to go run this trail again. Any chance you could arrange your trip on any day other than a Saturday? If so, count me in.

can anyone else do a mid-week trip to Moab?

Perhaps quite soon--the tech pulled it into the shop a little while ago. He reported the clutch was working at the time, so this may end up being a mere bleed issue. We'll see.

can anyone else do a mid-week trip to Moab?

To make up for my failed attempt at running the Rubicon, I want to get out for at least one or two more wheeling trips this season. My goal is to go somewhere that offers at least a moderate level of difficulty, something significantly beyond the usual Utah county Forest Lake/Mineral Basin...

    Rubicon Trail, Sept 5-8 2012

It sounds like you agree with Bart's assessment that the Hanging Tree Trail is more challenging than the Rubicon. Did you guys try either sluice, or did you use the bypasses?

Glad to hear this. See? I told you guys she was taking enough photos to shame a paparazzi! :p

    Rubicon Trail, Sept 5-8 2012

That is how Chrysler sells the hydraulic setup, yes--it is one complete system. If you go aftermarket, however, you can buy each cylinder individually. We've made plans to inspect it next week. I've got other vehicles to drive in the mean time, so I don't mind it sitting until then.

    Rubicon Trail, Sept 5-8 2012

They started working on it first thing, but it wasn't completely finished until 1:30pm local time. No such luck. Here's why: When it was done, the clutch did work. The pedal was very soft compared to before, and you had to press it all the way to the floor for it to disengage, but I figured...
