Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

No, no. Halfway through the project, walk in the house with a grim look on your face and say something along the lines of, "wow, Honey, while replacing these seals I just discovered one of my rear springs is cracked/bent/whatever and needs to be replaced. Thank goodness I am doing this job...

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

Actually, I only got about 3 1/2 minutes of you spinning your tires: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJPKvaeeTeA ;)

These scrapes high on the bedside amaze me. I was behind you all the while, yet I did not see when/where they occurred. I was very glad to see you took the damage in stride, though. :)

It's funny. I also check in on the Wrangler Forum, and lots of guys there always whine about how the protruding tubes on rock sliders are "ornamental" and "useless." My experience shows that to be exactly incorrect, and the HTT highlighted it over and over again. I love my sliders and how...

TeraFlex August All Jeep Meet N Greet

A few weeks back, I told Sam I would attend this gathering if my Jeep survived the Hanging Tree Trail run. Since it came home relatively unscathed, I guess I am now obligated to make an appearance. :)

Oh, I've got that footage also. I can only email ~30 second video clips off my phone, so that's why this is all I uploaded so far. ;)

Here is one very short clip of sixstringsteve on some steps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ0ttijjOQg (I cannot remember how to embed videos in this forum, sorry.)

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

You sure got that right, Bart. Now that I've been there, I understand every word of advice you offered me... and I'm very glad I listened. I wouldn't dream of running that trail in a SWB TJ on less than 35s without dual lockers. I admit I didn't use the lockers very much; I tended to engage...

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

Yes, we got Cameron and his F-250 home without incident. I'm glad I invited him along, and I'm very glad he took his significant body damage (!) in stride. (topic shift) As the unofficial leader of this outing, I am unhappy about the whole bypass incident. I'm not mad that anybody innocently...

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

That's the thing: Matt did use a generous amount of (red) grease on the pins--I could see it all over the place. Even still, the bushings wouldn't budge. It was so bad, I called Matt this morning and accused him of using red Loctite by mistake. :D

TurboMinivan's 1998 Wrangler Sport build thread

I finally installed my new tires: I had to try it out, so Monday night a group of us headed for Forest Lake. A mere 25 feet after engaging 4WD, I put one front tire on the first rock in my path... and I heard a loud ping! as the left swaybar disconnect bolt ripped out of its threads and went...

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

I received my replacement parts this afternoon, just as Sam had promised. Now I just need to bolt them in... and figure out a way to make them disconnect as designed.

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

Issues? Oh, yeah. At the reservoir, I aired down but forgot to disconnect the swaybar. I realized this just as we were getting to the Forest Lake turnoff (stream crossing), so I stopped right there to take care of it... but I couldn't. The swaybar bushings were effectively glued to the pins...

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

We look forward to having you come with us. I'm sure we'll linger at the Chevron for a bit, and then we'll pause at the Tibble Fork reservoir parking lot to air down, disconnect, etc. In other words, I'm sure you'll catch up to us soon enough. Good to see iconwill is going to make it. Also...
