I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

Since a couple of you have spoken up, I think I'll pencil in a run to Forest Lake. I make this choice for three reasons: 1) This will be an easier run than all the way up Mineral Basin 2) It will take a little less time 3) I haven't been to Forest Lake yet this year :p workdog and...

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

Time-wise, I will be flexible according to who is coming with me. I suggest we meet up at the Chevron at 5:00-6:00. Oh, and I have 4.56 gears now.

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

Definitely. Last fall we took a showroom stock '95 Grand Cherokee up there, and he made it with no body damage and never got stuck. (He had to carefully choose his line in some spots, and he did drag his skid plate a few times, but it was no big deal.)

I finally hauled my junk off of Matt's property last night: After work tonight I will swap to the 35" tires and wheels. From there, I need to finish making preparations to run the Hanging Tree Trail next weekend; job #1 is to relocate my spare tire carrier so I can actually haul my 35"...

I absolutely MUST go 'wheeling Monday evening, Aug 13th--can you come, too?

I just picked up my Jeep last night: This afternoon it is going on the alignment rack. After that, I'll finally mount my shiny new 35" tires and wheels when I get home. That will mean I'm all set for the Hanging Tree Trail run in six days. Prudence requires me to take it out for at...

Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

Matt is putting the finishing touches on my Jeep this evening (HD tie rod, longer swaybar disconnects, etc) and I plan to pick it up tonight. This leaves me precious little time to try it out before running the Hanging Tree Trail, but damn the torpedoes--full speed ahead!

Wow, I sure am glad to have good friends like you guys that constantly keep Matt on his toes while he's working on my rig. I can't wait to get it back this week.

Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

Two related thoughts: #1: the only speeding ticket I have received in my life was just outside Winnemucca, NV way back in the summer of 1994. I was caravaning to Sacramento with two other cars, and a police plane VASCARed us while coming down a steep mountain pass and--shocker--we were all...

Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

I'm not trailering--which is no secret--but I still must say I am surprised by the proposed speeds I'm seeing here. I guess I was expecting the trailer guys to want to keep a more mellow pace (read: 65 mph or so) than what has been said so far. TJs ain't exactly aerodynamic off the showroom...

    soft tops in the winter?

Put me in the soft-top-all-winter-long-and-loving-it camp. I have owned five TJs, every one of them with a soft top. Two of them had full-size doors, and those were a bit handy in the winter (and a total pain in the arse during the summer). I currently own two sets of doors, so I can run the...

new and need a little advise

You've already upgraded your rear axle once; why do you think you need to do it again? The Dana44 ought to live a long, healthy life with your 35" tires on it. (Out of curiosity, do you know what it was originally from?) Tell us more about your driveline. Which engine, transmission and...

    new guy in WVC

That's a good looking XJ. My suggestion: rock sliders. Soon. Welcome to the club! I look forward to seeing you out on the trail.

    mineral basin, pittsburgh lake 8.2.12

Agreed 100%. Without a doubt, that was my favorite trail to drive in all of AF canyon. It was definitely challenging. Back then, I owned an XJ on 32" tires with a rear locker. Some days I could make it all the way up the trail; other days I'd have to give up and turn around. And kudos on...

I dropped off the BellyUp and a few other odds and ends tonight. The 4" longarm lift is installed, though the arm lengths need to be set. The 1" body lift is also installed, as are both ARB diffs (along with the new gearsets) and the ARB compressor. The ARB switches are in the process of...

I need help moving my hardtop to our new house, in Bountiful

As a very last resort, shoot me its external dimensions. If it will fit inside my old minivan, I might be able to come up there and assist you.

You know it. I finally made it over there Saturday evening to see it in person. While I was there, we came up with a shopping list of additional items to install--a 1" body lift, a TeraFlex BellyUp kit, and a couple more odds and ends. (Please, nobody say anything to my wife!)
