Totally! Venice was even worse than Rome with graffiti, but Athens was worse than all of them. You can get down side streets in Rome and get away from the really bad tourist trap.. Eat at little mom and pop pasta joints etc. Athens not so much

I didn't much care for Athens. Dirty city, and aside from the acropolis (which is just crawling with people and people vultures) there wasn't much else there. If you're into old stuff, go to Rome. Same people problem, but 100x more cool stuff to see.
