My dog is a mutt. He's also called a golden doodle (aka a mutt) . He's 3/4 retriever, which isn't usually the desirable cross, but he is a retriever by personality, loves to swim (poodle), doesn't bark, zero flight risk (you can leave him out with the gate open all day and he won't budge)...

I'll take my dog into home depot on occasion. Usually it's only when he's been at the house all day and hasn't had a chance to run or walk. He has no interest in other dogs and only approaches people when they show him attention so he's not too annoying. That's about the extent of it for me though.

I just prefer spending 3 minutes setting up a freestanding 10 lb tent that can handle 70mph wind, and then spending the next 10 minutes watching the canvas tent guys try to adapt, improvise, and overcome while I drink beer. ;) I remember taking my springbar to lake havasu for spring break...

I use a basic Kelty Grand Mesa 4 for family camping. It's just a 2 pole design, full fly. Easy setup (I make the 8 year old do it now) and pretty weather resistant (it'll handle at least as much as n RTT).
