    F*^&%$# Pigeons

Too confirm though I think someone already said it... would an old school lever action red Ryder have enough umph? I was literally about to start this thread last week because they've become such a problem in my neighborhood. But all the houses are tall and hard to get close up roof angles on...

    Political So now what

I hate the "all teachers should have guns argument." I think it was stated above, but a lot of people are not, nor ever will be, comfortable handling a firearm. I just think that teachers in all schools should be allowed to carry and that they are able to receive free training to help in...

    Political So now what

This is something I love about the school I work at, or at least the trades side of it. I know of at least 4 other teachers in my building that are carrying. I've had the coordinator of the trades tell me "if you've got the permit, I want you to carry here, and bring extra ammo." Because of...

I have used this exact image to teach students at my school how electricity in a welding arc works!

What did you work on Today; Home Edition

I realized I never posted the final iteration of the small corner desk project to fill stupid useless space. It's not organized and pretty yet. But all the woodwork and mounting is complete. Turned out better than I was expecting and leaves just enough room for the garage door. Which we'll be...

    High School TJ build

Here's some pics of the control arm brackets and locations. If you want to come see it in person let me know. I'm down in Eagle Mountain.

    High School TJ build

I ran my TJ without sway bars for a month or two (they both broke near the same time) back when I daily drove and commuted 60 miles a day. There were some serious pucker moments when it got windy or people cut me off/merged without seeing me and had to swerve out of the way. It's surprising the...

What did you work on Today; Home Edition

As a welder who has to deal with crummy fitters frequently. I'd agree with you a lot of the time, but in this house, I would definitely say the builder gets their drywallers and painters from the bottom of the contractor pool.

What did you work on Today; Home Edition

Ironically I did mess up one of the stud screws and stripped it real bad. Luckily it was seating enough that I just used some vise grips to tighten it all the way. It still level though so it doesn't matter.

What did you work on Today; Home Edition

Continuation of my small floating desk! All staining is done and I put a gloss lacquer on as well to help protect the wood a little bit. Got it all mounted, and found that I once again dislike the drywallers who did my house. Also found that the small shelf I made for the printer and whatever...

Shop / Tools Opportunity to learn/experience welding... Episode 1

I never said never! I weld downhill all the time! Just only in specific scenarios and if the wire/rod can do it properly. Some flux rod can be done downhill, others you're not even supposed to attempt vertical or overhead welding. But like I said, I've never welded 7014, and I'm not familiar...

    Solar power who’s the best?

This. If I'd have to do it again I'd probably do it myself and then hire an electrician to button up the important parts.

    Solar power who’s the best?

Depending too on what your budget is because it can increase the price a lot, see if you can get a battery system. Most solar companies all you're doing is offsetting your power and then sending any extra back to your powers company. If you want to have back up power for if there is any kind of...

    Solar power who’s the best?

Now that I have it it's great! But the install process was a nightmare. My situation was odd though. First company we went with went out of business shortly after our permitting process finalized and nobody told us till the new company that bought all the contracts started making the rounds...
