I dont think a 1 1/4 heim will be strong enough honestly. Why dont you do the cheap route. Use a 2 5/16 trailer ball and cut up a bulldog hitch. The ball gets mounted to your frame and the hitch gets mounted to your 1 link. Strong as anything and you can do it for under 50 bucks...

The uppers need to be at least 70% of the legnth of the lowers. Any shorter and thats what will twist your pinion angle under articulation. So the rule is 70% or better. I have never made uppers longer than lowers but I mine are basically the same length and work great!. Just tack...

So far so good. Been on several wheeling trips and the only parts that have come loose are the parts I didnt clean at all.....ya, Im lazy. I tried pulling some off that I did clean up good and I cant pull it off. Well worth the 20 bucks!!!!
