Tent Haters Society present: A disaster in progress

I started this project a year ago. Maybe i'll even "finish it" before the end of the year, right now i'm just trying to get the outside done so I can park it outside. Feel free to flame, make fun of my welds, ect :) I hate tents. Mostly because i've got certain management staff that make it...

    Garage winch anchor point?

My 20' driveway has about a 2' rise from the street to the garage. I'd be SOL if I ever had to get anything in there without power. The back wall is an interior wall of the house, the bottom 3' of the wall is poured concrete, at least 4" thick, and I have access to the back side in the basement...

does anyone have a straight piped ctd?

FYI- When I did safety/emission in november last year for my 2005 CTD, the tech told me that this year they are required to check for mufflers/cats, and showed me a big book of OEM diesel equipment.

97 TJ Chevy 4.3 swap question

horsepower wise, the 4.3 is going to be close to a fresh 4.0L, but should be 40+ more ft-lbs torque. I'm still considering a V8, but a V6 _should_ be easier to fit length wise, less hassle with exhaust, heat, radiator needs, ect. I really don't see the need for 300 horse either, (it would be...

97 TJ Chevy 4.3 swap question

I've got a 97 TJ, 4.0L / AX15 with 150k on the drive train. I'm considering a Chevy 4.3 / 4L60-E swap. I've had a hard time finding any info on dealing with the OBD-II port. ASSuming I find the right donor (97 or newer), and rip out all of the electronic guts (PCM, ECM, ect), am I going to be in...

2008 Ford Escape 4x4 Hybrid bolt pattern???

A friend has a stock 03 TJ, badly in need of new tires. BF has brand new takeoffs from a 2008 Ford Escape 4x4 Hybrid. 235/70R16 rubber, so they won't fit on the 15" wheels she has. Is the 5x114 bolt pattern the same as Jeep's 5x4.5? Any backspacing worries? Help Please :)

Need "crawler help" for a drag racing 4x4!

Try throwing 600-1000lbs of sandbags in the back of the bed and run in 2wd. I've got a stock Dodge 2500 Diesel, and the rear traction sucks badly without any weight in the bed. Sandbags made a HUGE difference in traction, ride, and handling for me. Also, what kind of locker are you running in...

    Let's talk welding helmets:

I got a good deal at AirGas on a Miller Elite helmet last year, It's overkill for the amount of welding I do, but it sure is nice to be able to see what the hell I'm doing :)

    i need some advice

Mike, did you end up drilling the transfer case to fix the clocking, or did you use an adapter? I'm planning on a AW4 swap this summer as well, I figure 150K on the AX15 is pretty good, and it should let me skip putting in a teralow, so it's like a twofer :)

Big load headed to Moab--am I legal???

X2 - plus, 10,000lbs on the GVWR (gross vehicle) can put you into CDL territory. Also, I'm willing to bet that 35' Gooseneck is going to be well over 7,000lbs. Something else to keep in mind- even if your truck can pull that load, can it STOP that load? You do have a good trailer brake...

    E-Locker

The ECTED style "Locker" is really a limited slip with an electromagnetic activator. Once it exceeds the amount of torque it can hold it starts to slip. larger tires, deeper gears, and low range on the transfer case quickly reaches that limit.
