    Need tread plate sheared

Thanks guys. A J Sheet Metal in sandy took care of me for $6 :) I know a circular saw would have worked, but a shear is so much simpler.

    Need tread plate sheared

I've got 2 pieces of .06 aluminum tread plate I need trimmed, the largest edge is 63 inches. Anyone have shop recommendations? I'd prefer south/west side of the salt lake valley.

What size tube are you using for the drawbar? You might want to take a look at this site: http://www.angib.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/teardrop/tear84.htm

Deer / Elk hunting this year?

This is probably a silly question, but is it too late to get deer or elk tags for this fall?

Please school me on communication devices

Your phone will need a signal to transmit your location, so if your out of cell coverage, Spot might be a better choice. Be aware though that Spot needs a clear view of the sky to work. Moderate tree coverage is enough to block communication to the satellites, as is deep canyons and such.

Tent Haters Society present: A disaster in progress

Got the front window in and rolled some sand colored durabak on the sides and back hatch. Now I'm on my 3rd attempt to get something working for doors. Bloody pain in the arse, the next project is going to use pre-fabbed doors for sure.

The right router and bit is going to be just as fast as a sawzall, and it turns the corners a lot faster :)

Tent Haters Society present: A disaster in progress

It needs to be structual, the body is a torsion box, without the ridgid structure it would just fall apart. I'd use 3/4" ACX plywood, and use a router to remove most of it, like this build: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/18142-Offroad-Teardrop-SawTooth-XL At the time I...

I need to decide what i'm going to do for the wheel flares, it's probably going to be easiest to find someone with a sheet metal brake and bend something for it.

Jack- It should be about $2500 - I stopped counting after I was into the frame/axle/wheels/suspension for $600 Sixstring - Kurt was right, I plated the receiver hitch so it's the same height as the square tube so the gusset plates are flush and easy to weld together. To attach the body I...

    Off road trailer build

Your talking about an electric over hydro setup: http://www.trailerpart.com/brakerite.htm Sticker shock is not going to be pretty though :) The cheapest, most reliable setup is going to be a 2000 lbs trailer axle w/ electric brakes. You'll most likely want to run the cheaper "more power...

Eventually I'll get a cool 3 axis coupler, but for now a cheap harbor freight hitch will do. 90 degree jacknife accomplished.

Crap, did I really use OSB for the walls? I SO do not recommend it. It's fine structually, and if/when water gets at it, it won't seep the length of the panel like plywood will, but it's a SEVERE pain in the ass to finish. Floor/wheel wells are 3/4" AC grade plywood.

Moar pics The $300 harbor freight metal bandsaw was one of the best tools I picked up as this project was about to start.
