    fj80 coil springs

You talkin' about Lee's Runner? His is the black one with DC stickers and a custom tube front bumper... Those were my old stock front springs. :D Just to echo what Ben said about the saggy springs, FJ80 springs will give a good amount of lift for any 4Runner. Either you have seriously worn-out...

    Machine shop recommendation?

Birfs are done... Don is dropping them off at work for me. Talk about good service! :D

    Machine shop recommendation?

I took them to Don today, should be done tomorrow. Kurt- The birfs are modeled after the longer FZJ80 version. I need a groove machined lower on the splines for them to work with my FJ62 hubs.

    Machine shop recommendation?

Hey guys. I've got some new chromoly birfields that I need a new c-clip groove machined into... Anyone know a good shop around Pleasant Grove/Orem to do this? Clegg's machine shop in Orem is out of the question, they do engine stuff only... -Lane

S.B. 106. Ban on aftermarket exhausts

You know, after reading through the whole thing (which isn't very long), I don't see what the big deal is... I can see motorcyclists getting riled up about it, since they all love those straight pipes, but like I said before, a loud bike is a safe bike (IMO...if you hear it, you know it's there).

S.B. 106. Ban on aftermarket exhausts

"c) A person may not use a muffler cut-out, bypass, or similar device on a vehicle." This is already in place. It's in the UT safety inspection handbook.

S.B. 106. Ban on aftermarket exhausts

A buddy once told me that a loud motorcycle is a safe motorcycle. Heh.

Toyota School me on "on board air"

If you're looking for an inexpensive route, you can get one of the famous MasterFlow MF1050 (or SuperFlow MV50, it's the same unit) compressors at Pep Boys for around $70. I'm running a self-maintaining setup with two of those and a 5 gallon Craftsman tank. Works like a charm. EVCO will be your...

    Toyota Thinking of going part-time...

I was gonna rebuild the axle anyway. Got the kit from Kurt and Marlin seals to go with it. Now... You think a 1991 hub would fit on a later locked housing? I know the later knuckle had the ABS sensor stuffed in it, would the later housing be built differently to accommodate that?

    Toyota Thinking of going part-time...

That's beside the point. If I went that route, I'd need to get the harness to go with it, and upgrade the wheels to 16's. Not to mention tear the axle apart and check over everything. EDIT: You know, after thinking about it for a few minutes, that's actually starting to sound like a good...

    Toyota Thinking of going part-time...

For those of you who don't know, 1991-1997 Land Cruisers are full-time 4WD. They use a locking center differential in the transfer case (think of the drivelines as axle shafts, and the t-case as the pumpkin, with a locker). Well, about a month and a half ago, the splines on my front axle shafts...

You spelled "hate" wrong. It's "H8". As in "IH8MUD" :p

Toyota FJ80: Chromoly fronts vs stock shafts

Rare for sure. I can get chromo inners from Longfield for $125 a pop. But I want to make sure that I'm not making a bad decision on this.... I was talking with Landtank on 'Mud about it, he says that when he twisted the rear shafts in his truck, he put in chromo shafts and those twisted easier...

Toyota FJ80: Chromoly fronts vs stock shafts

See the pics above... Diff ends are stripped completely. Sounded a lot like a stripped drive flange, but there was no movement when I popped off the grease caps. So it actually wasn't the birfs that popped, like what I told you a while ago...

Toyota FJ80: Chromoly fronts vs stock shafts

Not talking about birfs, Kurt... Just the inner shafts. ;)

Toyota FJ80: Chromoly fronts vs stock shafts

Here's a pic to show what happened to the shafts. Diff end. Driver side (long shaft)... Passenger side (short shaft)...

Toyota FJ80: Chromoly fronts vs stock shafts

Some of you may already know that I stripped out my front axle shafts last month. I've been thinking of getting chromo front shafts, but I want to know how they would fare in a full-time 4x4/daily driver setup. I've been running in 2WD (w/rear auto locker) for a while now, and I'm really...

    Snakes Jan 9th

Dang. I really wish I could have come, but I had to work. Not to mention I have a gnarly cold.

How do I move this thing?

Well... If you can get it moving under it's own power, and you're replacing the tranny anyway, you may as well chance driving it. Worst case scenario, you get a buddy with a diesel pickup and tow it to your new house. That's what I would do, anyway...

    new mini-crawler

I did a bit more modification to the body, now it actually looks like a crawler... And makes it easier to get to the battery.
