Got a little bit done on the car today. Mounted up the rear trailing arms and crossmember reinforcement brackets installed.

I’m not OCD but I have a problem with little details. I just couldn’t put these controls arm shims in being dirty and discolored.

A wire wheel on the drill and they are clean and look new.

Waiting on the upper control arm bump stops I ordered to get here before I install the spindles.

These should slow me down

My one complaint so far on this CPP kit is some of their directions are really lacking. Since I am running coil overs I have to run the brakes on the front side. However they do not provide any additional instruction on the e brake routing. Moving them to the front of the axle reverses everything. I guess I’ll find out how good their tech support is.

All the suspension is on…..now I just have to wait for all the hard brake lines and fuel line and fuel tank to come off back order

I’ve never seen swaybar mounts only held on by a U-bolt. I’d be interested to see if they twist at all from their current location on the axle housing

They make a billet upgrade for the sway bar that I was thinking about getting.

Everything on this kit has been very high quality but this mount is kind of cheesy. The frame end used an adjustable link with heims.

May as well update this since @Greg brought it back up in his new RME car build list.

Got an update from OPG that 90% of my backordered parts are in and going to ship soon. The only items I am missing from them will be my stainless steel gas tank and a brake line T. I could get by without the T and just clean up the one that was on it, but the tank is going to present a bit of a stopping point. At least I can finish up the brake and fuel line.

Wish I had more to update on this……still waiting on a few parts to come off back order…….gas tank, brake line T on the rear diff and my front to back hard line for the rear brakes. The original material parts are available for the tank and brake line but I already have stainless fuel and front hard lines so not going with stainless for those other parts goes against the grain for me.

Since my last update I have installed the front hard lines, the hard fuel line, e brake cables and steering.

I also did a leak down test and everything seems to be good. I am probably going to have somebody verify my numbers since this is the first one I have done. If all checks out then I will probably throw a cam in it to liven it up a bit and put a Sniper EFI on.

After a few beers and some quality discussion on Saturday, Paul has decided this project was just too... generic and is going to take it in a new direction.
Instead of an El Camino, this is going to become a Cadillac Mirage. I think this is an excellent choice and I look forward to it coming to fruition!
