SOLD

This makes me sad as I really have loved this thing since I picked it up, but I need to free some cash up.

1996 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Laramie Club Cab 12v Cummins 4x4 5 speed 273,XXX miles

I purchased the truck from the original owner, he used it for work and for recreational pulling. This truck is no beauty queen, it has been used as a truck and has lots of dents and dings. The previous owner also added some larger dents :) That being said mechanically it was well maintained. He told me he has always run full synthetic Amsoil, it is equipped with a bypass oil filter. I'm told the transmission was gone through about 50k ago. It did have veggie oil and CNG kit on when I purchased (since removed), this was not for hot rodding but for MPG's. This truck has never been turned up and is stock tuned, its been used but not beaten and well maintained, which is why I bought it.

I didn't care about the dents and dings, I just wanted a solid truck. I was planning to make the interior nicer and re-clear the paint keeping the typical 90's dodge flaking paint look just protected so it didn't go much further, and pulling out the bigger dents. Everything i've replaced, i've replaced with parts having the intention of keeping this truck for a long time.

Replaced in last 3k miles
-4 new ball joints
-rebuilt front driveline
-aftermarket control arms (no lift, improved geometry and DOM tubing)
-Redhead steering gear 18:1 ratio
-Converted to 98-99 "HD" style steering (gets rid of the crappy Y style and much beefier)
-4x4 posi lock mechanical 4x4 linkage (no more vacuum crap)
-4 new tires

In addition to what i've done, the previous owner added a 4" turbo back exhaust, boost and pyrometer gauges, aftermarket radio.

The bad
-want to make it clear this is not a beauty queen so you are not surprised if you come look at it
-Typical dodge paint flaking
-small amount of rust in typical areas
-some bigger dents, I feel fairly easy to repair if you have proper tools
-cracked windshield
-headliner is coming apart (have one recently repaired I pulled from a parts truck, just haven't swapped them yet)

Asking $7300 for RME I really don't want to deal with the KSL crowd so I hope someone is in need of a solid tow rig/work truck (going on KSL for $7800 if no interest here)

PM is fine, i'm addicted to RME and refresh my browser about ever 27 seconds. I work goofy hours so text is best but call if needed, Eight ohhhhh one six five two six one seven eight

Great tow rig, and screaming price for what you get.

I have a '99 CTD with a 5 speed, and all I use it for is to tow heavy... Up to 15K

Gauges are a big bonus too!

Unfortunately in Davis county I would have to have it emissioned.

i can't speak to the 12 valves but my '99 Powerstroke had a cat converter but some didn't that year. My '98 Cummins does not have a cat. I'll verify when I get home but I didn't see one under there when I bought it

I don't think you would, to my knowledge diesels in Utah were not required to have emissions until 98. I can't imagine Davis being different than Salt Lake on this

Also I've had two 98's in the past neither had a cat

Edit:

Boy, after researching. Davis has some silly ass regulations. If you're concerned you're welcome to take it in for a test. Only blows smoke when you shift and its pretty minimal. I'm not sure if it had a cat from the factory, but I doubt it.

Each county in Utah can make up and play by their own rules. It just so happens that I know one of the Davis Co Emissions management guys and I called him. His answer was 1968 and newer have to have emissions. Passenger cars with Diesel Motors it is 1996 and newer but pickup trucks is 1968. If you register it as a SMOKING vehicle, regardless of year, it has to be have a smoking check. I have arm wrestled with DC Emissions several times regarding engine swaps across manufacturers and outside of Optional Motors for years they were manufactured.

It's true. I use to be one of the diesel tester along time ago. Use to have everything memorized. But now not so much. But they do still love me up there.

I looked on all the decals, door jam and under the hood, can't find anything that mentions emissions equipment that was equipped originally

There should be a riveted label on the driver side crank case. There's a section that will have the letter oc stamped into it if it requires a cat.
