Can someone tell me how to get the timing chain in the correct place?I've got it on TDC dot on camshaft sprocket at 12.00?,I'm not sure where the cam need's to be and from what I've read it should be 11:30-12:00ish.
I recently got an 82 4x toy that had been RE retrofitted ran good cept a rod was about to go.So I changed the engine to a spare I had and changed the head to accept the RE injectionBoth block and head are in good shape, hooked everything up and now the dang thing wont fire,It hit's every bit but that's it.I've got spark,fuel-(jumperd plug to make sure pump work's-have fuel at cold start fitting)-although I've got nothing going on with the AFM.I dont know WTF'S goin on,ran fine before......Frickin irritating

with the cam at TDC it is at 12 o'clock and the #1 exh rocker is loose and can be moved that is how you tell if it is correct. make sure that the shinny links are in the correct place also, one on the cam and one on the crank.

Set at TDC with rotor pointed at #1.I just switched head's,didn't pull timing cover off,and there isn't any bright link's on the t-chain although there is that are marked.I just did not want to pull the timing cover off to set the timing....I just need to know where the dot on the timing chain sprocket is set at When everything is at TDC...I'll check to see where the runner's 22recam is at then.Thank's

ok i hope this in not confussing....if you are looking down at the top of the head, there are marks on the rocker assy. the mark on the cam will line up with them..it is stright up and down..as long as the cam it tdc on the correct stroke and the crank is tdc it should start enless there is something else wrong..

Your talking about the arrow on the rocker arm assembly and that the dot on the sprocket will line up,Am I correct?(straight up & down)

It's been a long time. I cant remeber if it was Toy or Mitsubishi I was doing, but dont you have a mark on the chain that you position on the crank, then roll the engine over to the mark on the cam? Sorry, not much help it's been a few years. :(

The part store t-chain's usually have bright link's that you line up.I seen on this chain there was a link that was pink,in the morn i'll rotate it and see if there is another and go from there.

Can someone tell me where the ground point's are for the RE,such as how the ECU is grounded and what other ground's there are? I did take the computer out, along with the harness when I switched engine's,then put everything back in and plugged everything together.I just want to make sure I got it all grounded.
I did make sure that the ground's on the upper plenum are hooked up....Thank's.

there is a ground:
on the back of the head to the firewall
on the intake plenum, by the support rod
by the battery to the body
by the ecu on some models
under right kick panel on some models

Thank's.Do you know anything of the early EFI.My computer is a two plug :confused:Rather than the three as my runner has,The dizzy that was on it has the advance port's,I put in one from a later EFI but as I did some reading in my manual they show an 84 EFI system with the same vacuum diagram with the dizzy.....But I cant find any info on the two plug style computer, are the computer's the same but missing the one plug?????

Thank's.....I went through all of the ground's today made sure all were metal to metal, put the original distrib back in made sure everything was on TDC but no go.I dont know what's going on.
It wont even fire with starting fluid sprayed in the TB.Fuel pump work's when jumpered at terminal, work's when key is on and I push in the flapper on the AFM and I can hear the relay clicking as well. All fuses ,relay's are good and it's getting spark.I'm baffled
