39 inch irok questions

What do you guys think about the 39.5 iroks? I love my 37's. There is a few things I like about a 39 irok compared to other 39s or 40s. Cheaper then a krawler or a creepy crawler. Can get it on a 15 so I don't have to buy new beadlocks. A lot lighter so easier on parts and easier for my little motor to turn. I know the 37s work great and have seen the 42s hook up even better. But on the other forums I've read bad about the 39.. Could it really be worse than my 37 inch radials? Also I drag belly a lot so just the fact that its bigger I think would help me a lot. So let's get some opinions. My rig is really light so I'm not worried about them folding like they some times do on heavier truckss

For a good example of how the IROK performs, go outside, spray your existing tires with WD40 and return to the trail. IMHO,TSLs would be a better choice and pitbull rockers would be the best 39" tire offered for a 15" rim.

I've never personally run them, but I've seen a lot of 39s that don't like to stay on the rim (inner bead if you've got beadlocks...) And, I think they see more than their fair share of sidewall damage. I've not seen them hook up real well, especially compared to a sticky, but for the money, I guess they work pretty good.

From my observations, 39" IROKs need wheelspeed to get any sort of traction. It doesn't sound like you may have the HP to achieve that and will be stuck in the middle.

A heavy tire will work fine with a smaller motor if they offer good traction.

The problem with a heavier tire is right now. I can barley turn my tires in second. I stalled at the top of the big hot tub a few times before I made it out and first is too low. I'm looking into getting more motor but still lol 39s are the breaking point for zuk case. The guys running lighter tires get away with it most the time but the heavier stuff. Isn't always so lucky I should just stick with what I have. But really who couldn't use a few more inches idk the pitbulls are pretty sweet though

Sounds to me like you need lower gears, not bigger tires...

Lower gear isn't going to get me more wheel spead.my second is about the right ratio. I just need more hp and I'm working on that and more gear but there is a lot of stuff down here that just eats my 37s.

So your right I need more gear I was thinking my second was around 80:1 but its onnly 66:1 so third with a doubler will give me 88:1 and 4th would be the same as my second is now

I think duals on your zuk is a no-brainer, It would give you 1 or 2 lower gears & would give you a couple tweaner gears, which would remedy your current prob.

as for the tires, We all love big tires!!! however, Ive spent alot of $$$ trying to keep my junk from grenading, (I still like-em big:D)

i know lots of people who are happy with their irocs but i love the rockers they are my favorite tire i want to run them next

39.5 iroks: :-\ They look cool. I wouldn't mind them if I had beadlocks, but mine burp WAY too much. NEVER had my SX's burp, even at lower pressures. I've heard that it's the 17" version that burps bad, I don't know. I'd run them again if I had beadlocks.

I wish the SX came in a 38" on 17" rim. The rocker looks really good to me, though I'd have to choose between the 37 and 39.

I really like driving mine on the road too, and the iroks wore out really fast.

Have you thought about 38's rather than 39's? I ran 38's for a long time and I want to go back to a 38". I tried 39's cuz I wanted to try a bigger tire in the deep snow. In deep snow, the 39" iroks didn't work as good as my 38" radial swampers and about the same as my skinny 38"x12.50 SX's

I'm actually thinking about a 38" swamper SSR

Well for now I'm looking for a 22re and dual cases I think spending money on the zuk doubler would be great tell I blow it up! So I think in the long run the money and the time for toy motor and cases will be worth it

the rockers are pretty bad ass but the 39 isnt a true 39 as well as the 37s plus the are really wide from what i have seen. its going to be bad ass once you get the 22re in there with the duals ill keep looking :)

I'm running 39.5 Iroks on the Mosquito. I run really low pressure (3-4 psi, basically flat). I like the traction I'm getting. The Iroks do fold easily and are really squishy, but that can be to your advantage on a light rig like yours. But the guys are right about burping. I lose pressure several times a trip from the inside bead, and I have to carry a lighter, starting fluid, and a 12 volt compressor with me to re-seat beads and air up when this happens. Just my $.02.
