I am so jelous of how light that thing
This is the next part and some rear tube fenders. I have a trip to sand hollow this week so it's going to go almost as is now haha.

I am going to be so mad when you weigh that thing, I bet you are at least 1500lbs lighter than my rig.

Are you going to remove the rear windows?

This was the entrance to the fault line trail. We got up the ledge to be greeted by a very steep climb that i was not going to take my wife and 2 year old on so we flipped around and came back.

This was just in the playground area. I saw a big wall and wanted to go up it. The jeep hadn't had any problems yet so i had it a go. Still had no problems an got up the wall and the big steps that it had on the top. Over all it was an amazing trip. Sand Hollow is good be a yearly go for me. Definitely going to plan the trip around a weekend where they don't close the main park off.

Looks good!! Wish I could have joined you. That steep crawl to enter the fault line has got my wife yelling at me too.

Btw pirate4x4 has a some great writes for hydro assist. Also look into the Durango steering box swap if your into something alittle more mellow.

I don't have any pictures or a write-up, but when I did mine I believe I followed a write-up on NAXJA or Pirate. I used parts from Surplus Center and drilled/tapped my steering box and was totally happy with it. I also ran an underdrive pulley from PSC and plumbed in a cooler.

Ok thank you! I keep forgetting about pirate 4x4. They do have some good pictures and write ups. The crawl out of fault line will be done the next time i go down.

Where did you find a cooler? And what does an under drive pulley do?

I used the stock trans cooler that was in my XJ for my steering cooler after upgrading to a larger trans cooler.

The smaller PSC pulley spins faster which helped the pump move more fluid at lower RPMs.

If you have hydro assist you won't need the Durango box.

I have some pictures somewhere in my build thread.

It is one of those things that seems pretty daunting but when you go to do it is pretty straightforward.

I have wj (zj?) HD pump (the one with the hydro fan) , drilled pump fitting, generic cooler, xj box, surplus center ram.

Good time to go over knuckle tie rod if you haven't already.

Now that I am at a computer, my hydro assist ramblings start at post # 140 on my build thread, there a few more posts after that.

Power Steering pump is is 2001 Grand Cherokee with hydrolic fan 4.7L "Overland Edition", you will need to swap a fitting from the XJ pump to the WJ pump and the reservoir is different, if you can run the WJ res do it, I jambed my xj res onto the wj pump it doesn't leak much... My OEM pump died when I setup my hydro assist so I had to buy a new pump. Run what you have until it gives you issues.

I know it's been awhile since I posted on here I recently got a new job as the Orem High welding teacher, so I've been a little busy. I just recently picked up a kingpin 60 driver drop. So that will be thrown in the jeep when I source all the parts I need. It is pretty much just the housing and axle shafts, but it is going to be a lot of fun building it the way I want.
