After a lot of set backs I got the new wheels mounted and onto the axles, then hauled them up to the build. Kyle had the rear cut off the chassis, and we set the axles in place and mocked up the links. Looks like I'm going to have about 112" of wheelbase. :D We also set the radiator in and the winch and they both fit where they're supposed to. Got a few pics. The third one is the best pic of the links.

Hey Bart, you ready to pull that sheet metal off yet?

Not for a couple of weeks, until it's a roller and coming back to my house.

good lookin wheels. who makes them?

These are the new TrailReady cast one piece wheels. I really like the look of these and wanted something a bit different than what all the other guys seem to be running. I still have some good contacts from old comp days. I chose the narrower ring instead of the wide rock crawler ring. I didn't know they were going to be so shiney, but I like the bling. They have T/R Racing engraved on the sides. Good eye Meat.

As for the problems, I didn't get my axles back until a lot later Friday night than I had planned. I took them home, jacked them up with a high lift (an experience in itself) and put them on jack stands. I dismounted all the old beadlocks but couldn't break the inside bead, so I started early Sat morning on this. Took them to Big O (University Mall) and had them break the beads. Then stupid me loaded them into the truck hauled them home, and unloaded... all of them. Tried to get them off the wheel for 45 minutes, no joy. Loaded them all back up, with the new wheels and back to Big O. Had them remove the old wheels and put on new wheels. All back home again and go to set the first ring, and see there are no valve stems. Back to Big O and home again. Get them all mounted and ready to put on the axles and the lug nuts on the rear axle only won't fit into the holes on the new wheels. Back to Big O for 16 new lug nuts. Seems typical for my luck. Expected to be there at 10:30 but didn't get to Kyle's until 1:30.

Looks real good Bart! How soon before it's a roller?

Plan is to move to my house in two to three weeks. That leaves me about 3 weeks to get my stuff finished before Safari. It's a tight schedule. We'll see.

Man I gotta quit reading posts at 4:00am!

"Plan it to move TO my house ...." funny how one extra word makes such a difference :D

I don't say this about many other buggys, but I really like the way this one is starting to look. Not a lot of storage back their it looks like, but looks lite and lean!
I really like the looks of those rims, I wonder if the rings will mount on my rims?

Thanks. This has a lot more storage than the last buggy.:greg:

I'm going to try something a bit different with this. If I have room I'm going to mount a trailer tongue box right behind the cab that will make it kind of a bulk head, with the top opening up to the rear. I'll mount speaker boxes inside for some 6x9s and still have some room for tools and stuff in a lockable container. The fuel cell will go just behind that, then there should still be room for a cooler behind that, if everything works out. We'll see.

New pics of the rear mocked up. I'm leaving it more open for more storage. The upper rear is just mocked up here. Should be in place tomorrow with the rear shocks on. :greg:
