We are headed to Moab tonight. My son and 4 of his high school mtn bike teammates are wanting to go so we are loading up and going down. If any of you feel up to chasing some fast kids around, let me know. I am taking the Rubicon as well so I can run some trails with some others that are going just to wheel.

Total dry spell lately :( I'm missing ideal riding season down here. I've ridden exactly one time this month. Between a broken bike and big life changes, my riding life has suffered. Anyone else felt the lack of riding blues?

I've been fighting off a sinus infection for what seems like a month, practically zero riding. I set a goal to ride 1000 miles this year and I'm nearly there, but between the weather and my head and real life I don't know if i'm going to make it.

Where are you riding, Steve? Have you been out to Eagle Mountain yet? It's mostly XC stuff since Flintstone closed but there's a bike park on the north side I haven't seen yet.

1k miles is fantastic Kevin!
I have put 100 miles on the Rocky Mountain I picked up October 4th. Last week I caught a cold and have been sitting the last 6 days. Cold weather with a cold sucks. I feel a couple St George trips coming on this winter.
My goal is to climb over 50k feet next year.

Ive been riding lambert a lot, and a lot of corner canyon too.

When i ride eagle mtn, it's always the trails under the power lines, above the bike park. I like the wood features they have at the park. Ive seen some.pics of some gap jumps up there. Id loke to go back soon. Im recovering from the stomach bug from hell roght now, but i should feel better in a few days.

Yeah, my brother decided to bring hids kids with the flu to thanksgiving dinner, and now we all have it. Thanks brother...

I force my kids to get the shot for that. I haven't had the flu in decades. I know there are some people who don't dare or want to get the flu shot but I am in too many offices and don't want to spread or contract anything. I'm a huge germaphob. Gets worse the older I get too.

Harrison rode yesterday for a bit. He now works at Bikers Edge in Kaysville a couple of afternoons a week and they had a fund raiser at the new Fruit Heights bike park called Fruit Loops. There were raising money for more trails. Bikers Edge donated $1 for every lap made by people there yesterday. There was like 550 laps done plus other people and businesses donating. They raised around $1,500 yesterday. Harrison took a demo bike out to play on. I don't know what he rode but since working there for a few months, he now has opinions on bikes based on real education, not on what he reads in the bike rags he subscribes to.

I rode a demo Transition Sentinel today. I absolutely hated the first 10 minutes on it. I felt like I was sitting on top of the bike. After I got used to the steep seat tube on a 29er it started feeling like a really fast bike. After a 10 mile ride I never really got comfortable on corners. I haven't looked at the geo specs, but I felt like it compromised speed for playfulness.

I rode a transition scout with similar geometry. It really liked to be leaned in the corners (rather than steering with the bars). It cornered better than almost any other bike. That super slack head angle coupled with the reduced offset fork make it corner differently than a lot of bikes today.

I still haven't ridden a sentinel.

I feel like a lot of bikes are compromising speed for playfulness these days. Sad really...

I didn't get the flu shot, but two of my siblings did, and they caught this nasty bug too. There was no escaping it at our house. :(

That just confirms that my cornering is I desperate need of some professional help  next time I see a cornering clinic I'm going to sign up!

Completely agree. Just out of curiosity, have you ever ridden a 29 that you consider playful? This was from some random article I read today:

On a different note, I'm looking for a vertical bike carrier for 4 bikes for our new vehicle situation. I already have a single 1Up tray for solo rides.

As far as I can tell there are 3 ways to carry bikes like this:

Crown of the fork like a North shore: http://www.northshoreracks.com

Handlebars like the Lolo racks (they also sell a diy option which could be nice): http://www.loloracks.com/

By the tires like the recon: http://recon-racks.com

It needs to carry 16" tire bikes, which rules out most tire basket racks. The handlebar racks look difficult to load. That leaves the North shore?

Any suggestions?
