My wife couldn't watch this all the way through. I did, but I had my scrotum trying to crawl up out of my throat the whole time. These guys are absolutely nuts.

Wow, thanks for that video. We "rode" that trail a month ago. Not my idea of fun. I was scared to WALK certain sections of it. Those guys are nuts, but fantastic riders. Adding an element of danger does not make riding more enjoyable to me.

Hey I'm starting to look for a child bike carrier, the trailer style. Do any of you guys have something your kids have out grown or are wanting to part with? I thought I'd check here before eating into the depths of ksl.

We bought one from Play it again sports that was a new item they sold regularly. It had some springs on the axle so the kiddos didn't bounce as much. It was under $100 and held up well for the couple hundred miles of paved trail I pulled it over. Can't remember the make or model. I guess I'm not much help.

I've got one up in the top of the shed. I'll have to check with the wife to see if she is ready to let it go yet.

Due to an unfortunate event last night with an open garage door, I am on the hunt for a new Mountain Bike. I am probably a M to L frame, probably prefer a hard tail for what I like to do, and I am indifferent on tire size at this point. My other toy (GX from Hell) has left me a little light on cash for toys, but I am interested in a good bike for exercise and riding some mild trails around Davis County, and possibly Snowbasin this summer. My budget is probably up to $1000 if I HAVE to go that high, but prefer less since I have to replace other items that disappeared with my bike.

With that said, what do you have for recommendations, and maybe for sale?

Bicycle Collective has a really nice Specialized hardtail with good components for about $500 right now. I think it's a 29er, L frame. I don't know if it's brand new or just a donation in really good condition - it looked new when I was drooling on it but I didn't look super hard. They've also got several reconditioned hardtails of various ages in the $100 to $900 range.

I'll be in there next Tuesday, I can have a closer look if you'd like and see what else looks fancy. Or stop in yourself, it's in South Salt Lake. Sales hours start at noon.

Thanks! I will try to get in there tomorrow when I am in SLC to take a look.

I didn't realize they dealt with bikes of any real value. For some reason I always assumed it was just cheap bikes in good working condition.

Now and again a decent bike gets donated by the owner or sometimes even a manufacturer, those get sold instead of going back out as goodwill bikes. The vast majority of bikes that are donated get fixed up and go back out as goodwill bikes, given to folks in need. There is a sales rack though, mostly older hybrids and cruisers in the $100-$200 range, but there are some decent mountain bikes and road bikes in there too.

We got back from the kokopelli trail on saturday. That ride is no joke! We weren't able to complete it; day 3 was too difficult. There were some gorgeous sections though.

So, Bicycle Collective is only open to Women on Wednesdays, from 5:30 to 9, so I won't make it there anytime soon. I did stop by Level 9 sports in SLC since they sell bikes now (apparently they bought out bikewagon.com), so I was curious what the consensus is on the following brands (I am not familiar with any of them):
Fuji
La Pierre
Breezer
Kestrel

The pricing looked pretty competitive for the setup, and I could get XT Components on a bike for under a grand if I go Fuji. Thoughts?

Rephrase that Steve. Day 3 got the best of you but that doesn't mean you didn't ride 30+ miles on day 3. Day 4 was fun and tragic. Still a great trip. We saw some beautiful country, you and others from the seat of your bike, me from the seat of my jeep

I ride a Fuji. It's a bike, it goes down the trail. Components are what makes or breaks it for me, all XT components would be better than what I've got right now.
