On another note, I am ready to sell my Scout D44's if you're interested:
Front: 4.88, ARB, Chevy flat top knuckles, High steer arms, Warn Premium hub conversion, stock shafts with a pair of stock spare shafts.
Rear: 4.88, Spool, Disc brakes

I am very interested! and thanks for all your help everyone!

4.88 gears if its a 4cyl. 4.88 or 4.56 it its a 6cyl.
I put 4.88's in my 4cyl YJ (33" tires) and they're perfect. Definitely not too low for daily driving. My buddy went with 4.56 in his daily driver 4.0L TJ (33" tires) and wishes he had done 4.88 instead.

If you're staying at or under 35" tires, I'd stay spring under and just get some better quality leafs. Upgrade to a D44 or F8.8 in the rear, maybe some chromo shafts for the front D30, some lunchbox lockers, and wheel away.

But if you EVER plan to go bigger, bite the bullet and go SOA with all the goodies - stronger front and rear axles, high steer, anti-wrap bar, etc. The price of going to a properly set up SOA is higher than you'll plan for, you'll get nickeled and dimed to death. But you already have everything you need for SUA, so invest a little in lockers, a different rear axle, and chromos and you'll be just fine until you're ready to go 37"+.

I would go with the 8.8 or the dana 44 rear, 4.56's or 4.88's and aussie lockers(great price, little over 200 bucks, a great daily driver locker.) Leave your lift and tires(until they wear out, then go 35's) and wheel the heck out of it.

The deal from UNSTUCK would be great and is almost identical to what I run on my CJ-7 Parker. I am SOA with YJ springs, high steer and an antiwrap bar.

I'd do 4.88 no matter what motor you have. I agree front axle is fine rear axle isn't. I have an 8.8 in the rear and I like it.

a rear axle and gears and lockers would be next on my list.

I have not read all the details, so maybe I missed something. But isn't your YJ set up for driver side, and the scout axles set up for passenger side?

I think your right and after talking to some other people that will end up costing me alot more than i really want to spend but i am keeping my options open just in case!

36" tire and under with the stock motor i'd just get some upgraded shafts for the rear and build some kinda axle truss because the stock housing will flex..dont ask how i know.
i know superior had a kit..i. think they still do. throw in a detroit or lockright and go to town. alot of peeps for a while were running waggy springs...over the axle...longer than stock yj so you get a better ride...and alot more travel. just need a decent anti-wrap bar.
