Anyone Know This Jeep?

I know the current owner, but we are trying to figure out who the previous owner was, and his neighbor who did the wiring on the engine. I have a few questions for him as I'm trying to get the engine running right. Thanks! It's a sweet Jeep, by the way.

I don't have the guys number who did the wiring though. His name is Alex and he lives in Alpine I believe. He was on here under "BlackTitanLE" (I think).

I bought some tires a couple years back from a guy with a black titan in alpine on here. He worked at a les schwab or other tire place If I remember right

I thought I would post some pics up of the progress on this build. I have to say I LOVE this jeep. It still needs a ton of work but it's a gem. I should have my part of it wrapped up in the next week or so. But on to the pics!

This was the condition of every wire connection throughout the jeep. With the sensors in the 4.3, a small voltage drop from this kind of connection is enough to screw up the ecu. The owner decided to start from scratch on the wiring.

At that point he found a good deal on a 5.3 and we went for it. They're more fun then a 4.3 anyways, just harder to fit in these shorter front ends.

So a new front end was sourced. Any Jeep nerds out there know which front end it is? The stripes might give it away. I think using this front end is your only choice if you want a v8 to fit, unless you cut up the firewall.

I knew the front cross member was going to be close to hitting the crank pully, but I thought I'd get lucky. Well I did get lucky that night, but not with the cross member. ;) It had to go.

I put in some fish plates where the cross member was, and then got started on the power steering.

With the power steering in place I was able to locate the new cross member and also fab up some mounts for the grill. This grill uses two mounts on the sides instead of one in the middle.

This is the back of the dash gauges. Originally it was a mess. I rewired it so it will work and lost half the wires that were attached to it.

This is where I stand today. Stock engine harness trimmed up and Pain(full)less harness ready to be tied into it. I picked up a nice aluminum radiator and had to clock the lower outlet. Now it's got a pin hole leak in it! :mad2: So I have to pull it back out and take it back to the guy that welded it. I wish he would have pressure tested it first.

Good call on the DJ grill. It looks better in person. Just imagine the whole thing painted red! The old front end is sitting in my garage waiting for you to come get it.

Well I've been a bit busy with other stuff lately, so I'm a bit behind. The engine harness I got was mediocre at best. I ended up making several changes to it. I suffer from wiring OCD. If every wire is not perfect and as out of site as possible, I can't stand it. That and the fact that it took a month longer to get to me then what I was first told, I really should have just made this one myself.

But enough of that. There are few things better then turning the key on and off a few times to prime the fuel rail (and leak check), then give it a go and have an engine swap fire to life. Open headers was just an added bonus, inside my garage no less. It's always better to be able to feel an engine running, rather than just hear it.

So just a few more things to finish up, like the radiator leak and finishing the chassis harness, and it will be heading back to the owner.

Man, I love, love, love this Jeep! Anyone have an extra Commando laying around they don't need?
