told you so.

d44 are 30 spline inner 19 spline outer, d60 are 35 spline, and they make 35 spline outers but i dunno what stock is. i think that 9" are 28 or 32 spline. not sure.

BTW do you realize that the dude that started the post has not been on here since like page one! just thought that was interesting.

I know you can... ;) I have seen them called 9.25"

Landcruisers also came factory with a Front 8" on newer Cruisers, hence the electric locker that alot of mini-guys use. I have a dozen ring and pinions sitting on the shelf that I could measure but I know that they are right around 9.5"

ps, there are more than one size R gear for the toy PU.

Right again, the most common size is the 8" But there also exists a 7.5", 8" HP, 7.5" HP... And that is just the US/Canada spec stuff, wait til we bring up non-US... :D

I have always said,,, If it wasn't for the birfield, the front LC axle is as strong as a 60.

cruiser axles are tough, but i don't know if they are as tough as a 60.
toy rear axles seem pretty tough to me. james says he wants to put a toy axle in the rear of his jeepster. i think he would have to be crazy to replace his 14ff with a toy axle but... when i said that, he just asked me if i have ever seen a toy rear end blow... and i was like ummmm no. good clearance out of those axles and i would run them, but i think 36" and up tires are too much.

just my thoughts,
nate

As tough? no,

Close?

Yes.

The LC axles do have their flaws. Otherwise I wouldn't have swapped them :p

I beleive the Toyota Axles are strong but can any one say why. I understand why a Ford 9" can be just as strong or stronger than a dana 60, but no one has ever explaned in scientific terms why the toy axles are so great(I have heard of better heat treating on the shafts). It always turns into a brand loyalty fight.

But the same exact diameter/spline count as a D44:D all the info I found on the rears say the 44 has a larger shaft than the toy.
D44-1.31
toy -1.28

My question is, why shouldn't you run Chromo inner shafts with a superbirf if they are as strong/stronger than a Warn Chromo/CTM combo   Hmm........ I love and run toy stuff dont get me wrong, but sometimes you just have to admit.. there are better things out there;)
