Not sure how accurate it is but I weighed under each tire and under the tongue. I have 177 lbs on the left, 172 lbs on the right and 66 lbs on the tongue. I'm guessing the rear weights were different because some of the 2x8's were heavier than others. If I add those 3 weights together does that give me the total weight or is that not accurate? Still feels light enough that I can lift a corner in the back easily and drag it where I need it.

Went to buy my linseed oil today but Lowes was out of it. And I still want to build a bar across the front.

I think that would be legit. all 3 contact points were weighed. They do trucks one axle at a time..

I have been meaning to build a trailer like this for at least 2 years. Now that you have ripped one out in a week, I don't really have any excuse. How much do you think you have in it to this point?

I'm into it right at 500 so far. But I have bought everything pretty much brand new. I didn't have any scrap metal laying around I could use. I coulda bought a used one at that price but it wouldn't be as sturdy or dual purpose like I plan on using it.

Yes, that method will give you an accurate weight provided the surface you were weighing on is level.

Been working on the trailer a little bit today while my boy was napping. So far I have got the front cross bar done. This will be somewhere that the bike or utv tires will rest on for more stability. I used some 1x2 rectangle tube for all the pieces except for the middle brace. I had about a foot left of 2x2 so I ran that down to the frame. I have some plastic caps that I picked up at metal mart for the holes in the 1x2 tube.

After I was done with that I started to work on the fenders. I picked up 2 new fenders since the others were too small. The arch was way too much for the tire. I took the other ones back. Right now the fenders are just sitting on the mounts. The mounts are welded on. I am just having a hard time figuring out where and how to mount the fenders. I don't really want to weld them because they are pretty thin and I think I'll burn through them. They are also galvanized and I don't want to deal with dying from fumes. Also they are not flat on the bottom where they rest, there are small ripples in each end of each fender. What are some ideas for me to mount them. Here is how they sit now.

My wife likes the idea of the metal looking bare on the trailer so I got some clear coat for it. We will try that out and see if we like it for a while. If not, It'll probably just end up black or a dark gray. We also picked up some linseed oil the other day. So hopefully I'll have it all painted and stained and out of the garage by tonight.

I think I'm pretty much done with the welding on this trailer. I got the fenders all done and mounted up. I decided to bolt them instead of weld them. For the mounts I used 1.5x1.5 angle. On top of that on the inside of the fender I welded on a 4.5" piece of 1x1 square tube. The fender fit over these on both sides and I bolted the fender through the face into the 1x1. I think it looks great and they will be removable if I ever need to have them off for some reason. They are dang sturdy and will do their job. Glad I got it figured out on my own.

After I was done with that I got the deck cleaned off the best I could and also got the metal wiped clean. I did one coat of linseed oil on the wood and 2 coats of clear coat on all the metal. All that is left is figure out what to do for the lights and figure out ramps. But I think I will just use the rams I already have rather than making some.
