Ok I've had enough! 4.00 a gallon is ridiculous, I'm going to buy a processor to make biodiesel. Anyone here use one or have any input on what on to buy or stay away from? I'm looking to get one within a week.

Not yet, But seriousely considering it!! I have run b100 in my truck for the last 3 summers and b20/50 in the winter....down there you'd be fine up to 70% in the winter....If you get one, I will come down a weekend a month and help out....and bring some oil with me:D

Where do you buy b100? I remember a place on State and 80thish South. Are there more? Is it less expensive than regular diesel now that it's approaching $4 per gallon?

If you drive a 6.0 you cant run more than 5% bio-diesel.

If not check with the manufacturer to find out what % of bio-diesel you can safely run. Some vehicle are totally fine with 100%, some are not. It would suck to have a major engine failure bill, because you didnt want to pay $4.00 a gallon. (I hate paying it too)

There's a guy at my work who not only makes his own, but apparently is mixing used motor oil and diesel. He says his 12Valve does fine with it:ugh:
$4.00 is just insane. We'll all pay for it

Not so....The mfg says that to cover their arse in case you are running some shady crap.... If you running QUALITY bio, that is cleaned and filtered properly, it will run in any diesel. Jeep says the same thing about the crd libby....30K and no probs for me!! Couple guys are over 100k on atleast b50 in their libbys. There are several 6.0 guys out there running it. Got a friend running b20 in a Duramax from day one....about 6 months and 20K on it so far.

That would worry me....you get heavy meatals and all sorts of other crap in old motor oil....
The key to bio is starting with good oil, be careful and make it right, clean it, and filter it....

Bio is our BEST option for renewable motor fuel....Buy Kelp!!!!

I've been researching it more than ever in the past few months, and I'm finding it very hard to get an un-bias opinion on which kit is best.

A buddy and I are just going to buy the Fuelmiester ( www.fuelmeister.com ) very soon and start from scratch. They say up to 2-40 gal batches per day, and if the brew for under $1 per gallon claims are true then I will be doing a LOT of traveling, vacationing and saving :D

Not sure if it's illegal or not yet, but with the cost of diesel these days you can't tell me that all these broke kids driving new Duramax's would not pay me $3.00 for a gallon of my home brew right? Ha ha who knows :)

I suprised Uncle Sam doesn't get bent out of shape about the road tax that's not being paid when people run home made diesel.

They do, but it is hard to catch, and not a volume level that makes it worth investigating.
Bio you buy at the pump does have Road tax on it.

Oh, and as for B100. During the summer Dal Sol. in Midvale has it. It is on a pump behind the rear building. Then you have to pay inside that rear building, not up front.

Sounds shady. -_- :D

Not shady at all. Just the pump for the above ground tank they have out back that they use for their B100. They sell only the good stuff!!!! I have been buying from them for a couple years now. I have not had to change the filter on my PSD for over 2 years!! They run it it the deliver trucks too!

Well, I talked to a friend of mine last night and we are going to order a processor within a week. There is a biodiesel seminar in reno on the 28th we are flying out to, the seminar is an all you need to know about biodiesel, how to make it, what all you can use etc.
The system we are getting is local to Utah and has been being used for 5 years now by the guy who makes them. If all goes well I'll be running bio by the end of the month. :)

I think we need to start an RME biodiesel CO-OP. I would definitely be in on helping with the purchase of a processor and helping with the production to save some $$ on diesel and give the oil companies the bird!

Probably true. My good friend is a Ford Sr. Master tech and he has had plenty of experiences replacing injectors in 6.0's from people running bio. At $600 or so a pop I dont know if I am willing to take the risk. However he does work for the dealership in Tuscon...so he is telling me what the recommendation is from their advise if you know what I mean.

I am all for it, but I am just scaaaaaared that he could be right:ugh:
