Other Region BorRacing Wendover 2013 Race Win a Free 20" Light Bar

Just received this email from one of the best volunteers BOR Has, Curtis Blackley.

For those that haven't heard, the Wendover race will be held on October 5th. I know this is a conflict with the start of the Elk hunt, and we tried to get it moved to the weekend before the BLM wouldn't let us have it.

Many of the fine details are still being worked out about the race, but I can give you some.

Classes will be split into four groups, Pro, Limited, Sportsman, and UTV. Pro will run the full 200 miles; Limited, Sportsman, and UTV will run less, but their entry fee will also be less. We haven't yet split the classes into their groups, but go with the presumption that the Pro class will be fast cars, and the Limited class will be slower cars.

Also, if you're planning on attending, or even if you aren't sure but want to, please let me, Allen, or Nate know. If you're not planning on attending, please let me know why, so we can work on things for next year.

Please pass the word about the race, and if you know someone who is planning on coming, let me know, whether they're coming to spectate, pit, volunteer, or race.

Im thinking I need to make up some stickers and T shirts to give away. So lets start by giving one away today.

Lets make this Wendover Race one for the record books! Go to our Facebook page and post your idea of how we can make this the best race to date and the best idea is a winner. These have to be things we can actually do as a group so saying things like $20,000 in prize money or get BJ and Robby to show up wont cut it.

Its really relaxed. A lot of Stuff you would do anyways like battery tie downs and small stuff like that. Most other things will slide as long as your harnesses are in good shape and your fire suit and helmet don't show obvious damage.

After reading the guidelines thread that was posted I just wanted to make sure this thread is not in violation. While bor is a business it for liability and other reason associated with doing an off road race we are not making money. All of these items being given away are 100% out of my pocket and I am not even going to be covered for cost. I'm simply trying to help keep local off road racing alive. If I am violating rules please let me know personally.

I have had a few people contact me asking how do I enter to win the light bar if Im not one facebook. Myself personally am not on facebook other than an account I set up with my wife as my only friend because I got tired of my neighbors knowing more about my wife and kids then me so I 100% understand those that do not choose to use facebook. That being said here is the deal with the giveaway. What we are trying to do is promote the race and even if you’re not going to attend as a spectator or racer it helps to have a buzz about it. What facebook does is help spread that buzz. Say you have 100 FB friends and you choose to like and share our page. It’s a safe bet to think that at least a couple of your friends have the same likes and interests as you and may be interested in us also. So now one of your friends likes and shares our page and the cycle keeps going. So by us offering to give stuff away to get you to follow our page you give us access to your network of friends who we hope has a few who will also give us access the their network and so on. You can see this is a two way street so by us allowing people to enter to win a facebook giveaway when they are not members of facebook is counterproductive.
So I am 100% open to running another giveaway that can target another type of audience other than facebook. The thing is is what can we do that we can follow entries and progress, doesn’t cost us money other than the prize being given out and will actually have a positive benefit to getting people to the race? I am open for ideas?
Unfortunately things have had a steady decline with BOR since 2009 and while a lot of that is our fault if we don’t get a decent turn out for this event it very well may be time to throw in the towel. So Im open to doing whatever I can to make this an event people want to come and race and spectate at.

Get the boys together for some more seat time for the next Baja 1000 or the Las Vegas 500.
