Ok, that is some good background info. Clutch had an experience with brazing once....took a steering arm to a shop to have it welded and they brazed the arm to the knuckle for him....it broke in Moab on Rusty nail. Luckily he had a spare part and it wasn't a big deal. Good thing it didn't let loose on the freeway.
Back to brazing......I guess welding shops have brass rod and flux. Are there different types/grades? How do I know what to get?
