BREAKING NEWS:A 4 speed transfer case under development - the "Atlas 4SP". Advance Adapters is currently in the prototype phase of the newest addition to the Atlas family. The Atlas transfer case has a long list of credits to its name, which include reliability, ruggedness & versatility - and built by a name you can trust. This new unit will fit the same applications as the standard Atlas transfer case; and at approximately 16" O.A.L., this unit should be a shoe-in for most vehicles. The Atlas 4SP will offer the same speedometer connections and VSS options as its 2 speed counterpart and will be attractively priced below $3000. Stay tuned here for more updates as they become available.

I think it's because they are stacking a worm box on the input which will have 2 ranges in itself. I can't wait to see how they are implementing it.

I would love to have a stock 2.3:1 with a 4:1 and maybe even an overdrive. I doubt the overdrive will be an option though. It will probably take it all the way down to a 5:1 or a 6:1.

Please educate me, what does O.A.L. stand for? I am guessing it has to do with the length, right?

Over All Length.

Oh and I want one! :freak: And I'm glad I didn't already get the 2 spd one that I've been wanting!

oh... I'd say you're mighty close to a transmission with that many gears in it! That is pretty cool. I can see it now: "Petersen's History of 4WD: The Transfer Case Wars...."

16" o.a.l..... isn't that like, longer than a SM420???

4 speed? Thats like, a lot of, like, shift options. Me get confused easy.

I would die for 1:1, 2.5:1, 5:1 type setup.

Well, you might just get that, and one more. Like said before, I think an overdrive would be a good option. Throw in a 0.73 and I will be on the list. Then I will just have to get a good rig to put it in :greg:

By the way, if you are reading this Andy, I am getting anxious to have my cruiser finished ;)

I just called Stak4x4 and the guy was cool. He said their box is almost a direct bolt on for a D300 and is only about 1/2" longer.

I asked him if he knew anything about the 4 speed Atlas and he said its close to using a Klune V underdrive added to their normal Atlas 2. So the ratios are 1:1, 1:2.8, 1:3.8, 1:10.

2.8 to 3.8 does not sounds like a big advantage and 3.8 to 10 is a huge jump.

I'm liking the 1:1, 1:3, 1:5 in the monster box :)

also Stak case is out with overdrive as well. they now have three different offerings.. looks like really good quality product, as far as the Atlas goes I believe that AA is only doing it as upmanship to Stak. let the tcase wars begin. here are current ratios available:
1. 4.33 to 1 low, 1 to 1 high and .79 to 1 overdrive
2. 3 to 1 and 5 to 1 in low and 1 to 1 high
3. 2.43 to 1 and 4.33 to 1 in low and 1 to 1 in high
