Can I weld this?

I called them and they don't have the ones with the U-bolts instead of straps. So I am going to call Jesse at high angle tomorrow. he is who I got my 1410 for my 205 from.

i weld tabs to all the 14 bolt yokes. i have another 1410 yoke for the 14 bolt, i was trying to sell one for 30.00 dollars shipped, i still have it if you want it for that price shipped. or you can just weld some plates over the yoke you have now.
i kept breaking the little tabs and spitting the ears off. i haven't had any problem's in two years since i did this mod, works great.

here's the pictures just to get an idea of what i did. agin this one was pretty beat but still worked and the u-joint looked perfect when i took it off to switch the yoke. no problem and i just use my MM250, nothing special for welding them.

i cut two 1'' wide X 1/8 thick tabs and just smoked them on with my MIG. the secret is you need to bend the tabs in after you weld them to put a little pressure on the ears to help hold them.

What I was thinking is strapping a u-joint cap in with it spaced in just far enough to put a small piece of copper in there then just run a bead around the whole thing. then remove the copper and I should have a nice flat spot that will act as the tab

If its a quick fix to get you off the trail and maybe home sure.
But you have to ask yourself whats your life worth? $20.00 a $100.00????? We all know it will break again its just that question of where and when. I bet it will be under a load though when it does!

He's been warned. We've told him what we think he should do. He wants to try to fix it this way. If it breaks he'll limp off the trail in front wheel drive. We've all done it. I've done it several times. If it was a steering part, or maybe a brake part I could understand the drama. If broken drive shafts were a major risk to life most of us would probably be dead by now.

I will break the joint and continue on until I break my front shafts and have to be towed off the trail

six states will have a 1410. When I bought my 1350 u bolt yoke the guy was trying to talk me into the 1410

It's worth a try. I think it was Eric I talked to who said all they had was the strap style.
Its all good though I got it all figured out gonna order this in the mornin
