The steering column wasn't that bad but did require mounting it a bit higher than normal so the brake pedal would clear some of the switches. The S10 brake booster is a dual diaphragm design that works better than the stock power brake unit. It does require making a fairly simple custom mounting bracket. The GM blower upgrade makes the heater work much better than the stock motor and is fairly easy to do.

All have to watch out for those items and see if i cant do the same thing.

I sold the xj last night. Thank you KSl. Ya it was on for about 24 hrs and i got it sold. Sweet!! so tonight im going to go do some work on the beast. I will take some picks of everything so those that r giving adivse can see what im working with..

First thing i need to do is get a top built for it. It has been bobbed in the back. I have been told my best bet is to buy a scrambler top and have it cut down any suggestions wold be great?

Last I noticed, it was just the stock CJ tailgate latches. That was before the rear bumper and tire carrier went on, so maybe that's changed.

And yes, we love Apollo! Plus, it was practicaly next door...

Last night i read ur whole thread. That scrambler turned out good. Has anyong noted on that build you guys ate a lot of apolo burger. I swear in about every pick there is a drink cup from there.. lol:rofl::rofl: Do u have any good picks of the back gate? I need to see how they latch from stock?

Scrambler hard tops are hard to find and expensive. How about a CJ7 top that is easy to find, and lengthen that instead. I have put some though into that already :D. Cut it through the windows and the front and back would look normal/stock, and custom glass is easy enough to have made.

I'd do a half cab on it. Take into consideration your roll cage that you will do. Mine restricts the installation of a half cab so that was kind of a bummer. My Full hardtop is so heavy I need 4 people to help otherwise I always hurt something. The weight thing is always a factor especially if you are running the stock 258.

I like the hard door(better visibility through the glass)/Soft top combo. It makes it easy to roll up/zip off the sides and have a warm weather jeep then change it back with our ever-changing Utah weather. The only downside to the soft top on the scrambler is that it has so much material that even an hour on the interstate can be deafening due to the flapping.

I like the hardtop in the back to balance the vehicle out with weight, I feel that it's more balanced than a truck which is nice when there is ice and snow out.

Autometer gauges are a rad gauge. I have a stock set up in the scrambler with an autometer tach squished in. I like my cj7 set up better where they are all layed out and hot-rod looking. Gotta have the tach.

The back isn't huge for a lot of pick-up truck type utility but another bench seat fits fine if you want to haul 6 persons.

My favorite change is the spring over lift with a shackle reversal and my mopar fuel injection set up. 35's with the big rear are a must for my type of wheeling.

I met a guy selling a bobbed scrambler that said that the bobbing made it possible that you could run a cj7 top. You might be closer to a 7's top than an 8.

They have a FSJ thread good to see a Scrambler thread too.

I thought about doing that i now how to fiberglass so i thought about getiing one and stretching it. The only draw back to a hard top is getting it off. I think for that reason i am going to go with a soft top. PM me ur number so i can call ya on that dash?

I can't do a half cab. I have 4 little ones that go in there with me. I Like the look though.

If i could find a pair of hard full doors without paying out the nose i would. Right now i have yj half doors so i was looking at just getting the soft halfs for them. They are really easy to take off if they get bothersome.

It already has the 3rd row seat. What mopar fuel injection did you use? It has a 360 in it with a carborator turned backwards. The guy i got it from says it works good but i would really like FI. As for the rear end it has a courprate 14 and im running 37" tires with a spring over. But the shackles are in the front.

If anyone has a cj7 could u measure from the back of the door jam to the back of the Jeep. U got me courious to see what the lenght difference might be. I lost my footage only in the back so you may just be right.

Man what a pain.

I will pull a tape for you and post the measurements.
The jury is still out on mine, it is uncut, you are still going to have a space behind the top.
Did you get the one off of KSL? it looked like a good deal.
I know some guys that put Q-jet carbs on backwards and they climbed real well.
I like the room of the full length except for the taildragging. It is nice to have the spare inside with the backseat installed.

measured along the top of tub from back of door to rear of top = 45"
that leaves a 23" space on an "uncut" tub.

Is it already bobbed?

There was a soft top for sale on the CJ-8 list.

I'll take some pics of the rear gate tonight (gotta install a CB antenna)

I ran a wrangler top for a little while...until a tree on the snakes stuck an angry limb through it and peeled it back giving me an instant sunroof.

Mmmmm, Apollo....

There was a tan CJ8 hard top on KSL a few days ago.

I'm in the same boat looking for a top for my stretched CJ-7. I called Sugarhouse Awning and they said thay could stretch a CJ-7 soft top fairly easily.

I kinda like it. It messes with ur eyes though. lol
Yes it was the one on KSL. So far other than some changes i think i got a steel. I've always wanted a Egg Beater (scrambler)
Well for awhile all have to see how the Q-jet works.

Yes it is already bobbed. Need to finish it by doing the body work and painting the thing but it has been cut down.

What is the CJ-8 list? haven't seen that?

Thanks for the pics. Mine has some little like flip latches but im not sure if thats stock. I like those black H2 wheels by the way.

I saw the one on KSL. But i think i want to stay a soft top.
Did they give you a price at all? Im curiouse for them if it is easier to add material or take it out?

I'm stoked that scrambler made it to a good home in the valley. We'll definitely have to run some trails. I was trying to talk my friend into buying the one you bought, better you got it, I don't think he was willing to do much work to make it dialed like you are.
I talked another friend into a pretty capable 8 this year and he has loved it.

There is a Mopar FI kit that works for the 360 and I have experienced in a FSJ that works well. I remember running up to Park City from Provo in a Wagoneer with the injection kit at 75+ with a crew and some bikes. It's a $2k plus expense though. Your carb sounds good though. I have a carbed cj that actually climbs really well so I'm not changing it. Especially cause I can turn down the jets and raise the idle to get it to pass emissions every time.

I like my bestop basic top but for your kids, get the tinted window ones. I love the way it cools the occupants. There is a upholstery place in the Lehi by the hearts gas station that has reasonable prices and good work. We have had them do boat covers.

I just do the windshield bracket one on the driver side. I could never see out of the passenger so I removed it(I don't tow with it). You don't need it anyway for safety. Mirrors are cheap ~15 it's the arms that aren't so cheap.
