Not sure why they made the 72-73 grille on Commandos. I don't think they're hideous but they don't fit the jeep look. I've always wanted to build one and the 72-73 seem to always be in better shape and more readily available. Is there an easy front end clip swap for these? Or anyone know of some build threads?

Im not positive what years but i have seen commandos with cj 7 front clips on them, you would need the hood, grill and fenders.

On my 73 commando I used a CJ7 hood and grill but made my own fenders. The cj7 fenders will fit but they don't go all the way down the body where they bolt to the tub. You can find my build thread under "family commando build project".

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
If you like the look of the DJ front end, I have all of it for sale. Grill hand hood are in great shape. The fenders are original 1970 commando fenders. They look pretty good on the outside, and a bit rough on the inner fenders. There are pics in may for sale thread if you are interested.

FYI, the DJ grill is nice to have because it gives you the room under the hood that the later models have. So if you want to run a v8 in there, you either have to push the front out, with this grill, or cut into the firewall. Using CJ parts work okay, but like Dave said they don't fit the firewall at the bottom.
