Concrete

Can anyone tell me what I should expect to pay for a RV pad to be prepped and poured approx. 12' x 75'. Grass is currently where it will be. And are there any RME members up for the task. I'd like to do it with taxes but it might have to wait for my 2007 bonus.

A friend of mine did about the same amount of concrete. After he shopped around if memory serves I think he payed 5,000 to have his done! Concrete around here is going for around $110 a yard. You could save yourself alot of cash by doing it your self. IMO

$110.00 sounds about right just for the concrete. Add the labor of prepping the site and laying the crete... yep, kinda spendy..

My RV pad is made out of 1 1/2 gravel, I just couldn't handle the cost of crete. When I built my house 3 years ago I paid $65.00 per yard including labor.

Ugh... looks like I'll be spending a lot of time with a rented mixer... pouring it section by section...

Maybe the local concrete guy really wants some paintings.. :ugh:

There is a company called U Cart and you can get 3 yards at a time. You pick it up in a mini concrete mixer trailer. Very cool, then you just need some beer and some friends. :D

Make that....lots of beer...:rofl::rofl:

you can save allot of you can do it all in sections.. a friend of mine got with a company where they sold the left overs off the truck... the problem with this is they would call and say they will be there in 20 mins with xx amount of concrete... sometimes you get a 3/4 truck load sometimes you get a small amount...

He got lucky... he was doing his garage floor of which he had special anchors set for doing body work on cars... well they called him up and told him they had two truckloads of fiberglass reinforced concrete... it was more then enough to do his garage and now he has one of the strongest around....

ps, for a 12 x 75' pour you need 11.11 yards of concrete.
That would be ((l*w*t)/12)/27 right? That's not too bad then, about $1200 for the crete, then labor on top of that.

I'm interested in this thread as well since I will be doing my RV pad in the very near future.

The last pour I did for my patio cost me more in beer than it would have in labor to have someone come do it.
The contractors usually wont stay all night and drink even more beer either. -_-

 my neighbor had some friends over to do his RV pad, offered them beer to help out, they got about half way done before they were useless (all you can drink beer + hot summer day make for a useless worker pretty quick :p). He gave me the advice, offer the beer AFTER it's finished

I agree beer after its finished. But that never works for me everytime we are sitting around waiting for the mud to dry everyone get bored and some way or another the beer seems to make its way out of the cooler.

Alf, I poured 12 yards over the summer using the U-Cart method. They're charging $125 a yard. It actually worked out good because I could get the cart right where I needed it, which saved me having to hire a pump. Also, two yards is plenty of work for one guy to pour and finish by himself.

If you time it right, I may be able to help you. Or if you go the DIY route, I can give you some pointers and maybe even loan ya all the tools.

My bro and I have done a ton of RV pads together...using the towable method or having trucks come in.

How soon did you want to get it done?

I'm in no hurry really Just want it done this spring. Right now my car hauler and camper are both on the side of the garage and I'm tired of moving them back and forth depending on which one I'm using.
