Its been used and abused and its never really given me any problems in the 6-7 yeas since i built it so i thought it was time to put a little love into it.
The plan right now is, new front drive line assembly (carrier included), new exhaust, new seats, new top roll cage, new light bar, wider rear shock mounts, lower tank mounts, new tool box, battery moved, better radiator inlet, outlet hoses, new side panel with dzus tabs, dzus tabs on dash so wiring can be accessed more easy, clean up some of the wiring, new radiator fan, new harnesses, install a radio. It will be done before koh as this is me and my ladies ride out there, if im lucky i wont have to tow it back as it could sell,

Plasma'd off in about 6 minutes. I never liked how i made the vertical pillars completely plumb, it made the top look boxy and i tipped it over onto the d/s roof bar this summer and dented it so that was good enough reason to build a new for me.

New top is 1.5" .120" wall dom with some 1.25" .120 wall as double a pillars and intrusion bars. I slugged the a and b bends together and ran a full length slug inside the roof bar since thats where my last cage bent after a direct tip over to a rock, you can see the plug welds for the slug. The new cage is fully tig welded.

Ight y'all is caught up. This is how i spent my Christmas break.

It pays to know people. I r sad we couldn't find a "road closed" or "bumpy road" sign, this was the most offroady thing we found.
I had to anneal the aluminum on the edge to get a tight bend for the little "rain gutter" the first attempt and the aluminum cracked. It was too tight of a bend for this grade. It came out okay in the end. The light bar will hide the burnt off orange.


My new harnesses showed up and all the box had in it was a damn cat. Dont buy from this company, buyer beware.

Thank you. I believe knowledge is borrowed, rarely are my ideas original.

I have a really old 5' apron brake outside the shop. Its a pretty light duty brake hence the Gutter not being as good as it could be.

Got the light bar fabbed out. The rest should be quicker as it will just be mig welded.

Ive already had this same light on the old cage for a year now and its not too bad. They really suck if you have a windshield with the slightest amount of dust on it. It is getting new light blue plastic body panels and i was planning on painting the hood black since i dont want to try and match the body panels. Also i really dont use the top lights unless im crawling. I hate lights up high for going fast. Low mounted lights cast shadows on the road showing you all the different bumps and holes which is much better for going fast.

Its been a while since its seen some real love. Its always just worked good. Lately anymore its been the loaner buggy lol. Im really hoping to get it sold so i can build me a new two seat buggy. Ive about got a friend talked into buying especially since he has been around the whole time i have been pimping it out so i tease him and ask him how he wants things a certain way lol.

This is the first time any one has really worked on any of my buggys. Ive always had company over or been helped lifting or fitting things but never had anyone do their own jobs on my buggys. Breaks my heart. They was stripping off the old washers i had welded on for body panels in prep for dzus tabs and removing the seats and floor pans. Later the lady came out to look for a earing she lost years ago and cleaned all the "West mountain" out of the bell pan. I knocked the tank mounts out and got the rear shocks remounted.




They are mounted much further outboard. Should be much more stable when corning. If its not gone and i have time later id like to remount the front and get them wider and under the hood.

I only need a few shock tabs. I <3 my plasma table.

I have only done the Mojave 24 Hour of real racing so you know better than me. The rest of mine was club racing with The Rough Wheelers in California. The only thing I would have added is lights that show the terrain left and right because you do not know the route and there is no pre-run. The side lights help to pick out the route in unfamiliar territory.

Got the shop spic and span. It was pretty tore up doing all that work.
I started fitting the tool box today. I will be hanging in a 1" frame that will hinge upward once the two rear bolts are taken out so i can change out the propane tanks which doesn't happen often unless we are out of town on a trip. I also fabbed a simple little fan shroud and mounted the original fan i had on my single seater. The original fan had been on there since i built it and some of the plastic was cracking. I dont plan on running a spare tire anymore since anywhere we really wheel i wont be more than 30min from a spare but i did weld on some tie down points so i can ratchet strap one on more easily if need be. I also cut out a new rear panel because i have a plasma table now and can be clever with it.

Replaced the front drive line assembly, bolts, bearing, and drive lines all freshly greased. Got the rear lights in and wired. wired in the new fan and the light bar. We also got the side panels done and repainted the hood. We ended up finding some blue that matched pretty damn good. My lady wants to put a big cookie monster on the hood now. Working on new harness mounts now and moving the propane pop off valve. I got some flat black paint to repaint all the black flat black, and the wheels will be a gloss black and then im going to leave all the new steel bare.


Much lighter unit.
Added a pinch bolt on the bering housing to keep the bearing from spinning. I used an old toyota pinion on the end of this carrier drive line so i can bolt on a factory flange
