TTB 50. Shaft size is the same as D44. Joints are larger, and use outer retaining clips like on a driveshaft. Knuckles will not interchange with any other Dana axle. Ring gear is a little larger than D44. I have all of this in my garage if you want to look at it. The only real good usable parts are the hubs, they are the same as 60 hubs.

they're goofy, is what he means.

You get a bigger housing, slightly bigger ring gear, and the joy of paying for 60 hubs when the stock Ford POS's break. Ahhh, Ford.

Are the stub shafts useful?? hmmmmm

hmm.

so.. they're 60 sized with 44 ears? Am I getting that right? or do they just neck up at the hub?
The ujoint is halfway between a 44 and 60, but the ears are very large due to the use of outer retaining clips.

Hey Hickey,
You still want to play with the solid 50 idea????
I know where we can find a line-up bar and some pucks/ends that will fit the spindles ;) :D
I think I finally have time to try it....

So you're talking one out of a Super Duty, right ('99-current F*rd)? I actually think they'd work out and have talked to a few people about them. The availability of lockers and gears are kind of limited, but other than that, they could work out. I think it'd be a more worthwhile upgrade than a D44 up front if you could get one for cheap (if you can't find a 60) and you knew what you were getting into as far as gear ratio and locker.

There's a few threads on PBB about them and I expect they could become a better alternative as the SD trucks age and get more and more common in the junkyards.

JP seems to think they're pretty cool. Aren't they building the 'ultimate axle' or something out of a D50? {If they say they're cool, aren't they?}

I thought they were trying to get one of those new 70's? too many magazines! argh.

side note: I had the opportunity a few months ago to crawl around under one of the 05 Kodiak trucks, that front end is enormous. I'm all for it if THOSE start showing up wrecked.
