Diesel Upgrades

I have a 03 Dodge HO Turbo Diesel and I am looking to do some upgrades with the power, I am thinking of getting either the Edge EZ or the Edge Juice when it comes out next month for it, My question is where is a good place to purchase these? I am also looking for some Gauges, I really like the look of the Di-procal(Spelling) gauges but don't know where to look? Is there someplace locally that would be able to help me out?

Which gauges are you considering? Is yours a manual or automatic? There's really no good place on the third gen trucks to mount gauges, unless you are willing to hacksaw off your grab handle on the A pillar. The best way to go I have seen for the new trucks is the X-monitor. You get all your readouts on one small digital screen, and you can mount it on your A pillar without cutting off the handle.

I have a Auto, that is why I am thinking more towards the Edge EZ then I would the Juice I don't want to much power going to it. Is it hard to install the X-monitor? I was looking at doing the 3 pilllar gauge where my handle goes, I dont' use the handle much anyways.

It is much easier to install than the individual gauges. You have an auto, so you prolly want to get pyro, boost, and tranny temp? I have the six speed and want to get pyro, boost, and fuel pressure. You can get them in any combination you want, I think you can have it monitor up to four things.

Is yours an HO? I've thought about fueling boxes and stuff like that, but my truck stock is capable of towing way faster than I want, and I have yet to have any trouble pulling a hill. Normally I just leave it in 6th with the cruise set at 75 or so, and it takes care of the hills by itself. So I've pretty much decided to forget about fueling boxes, exhaust, injectors and all that stuff, and I'll take the money that would have gone to that and buy a spray liner, leveling kit, tires, and what not.

yes Mine is the HO so my auto tranny is a little bit stronger then the old 47re. I was told that I would want to monitor the EGTs? Because I use the Truck to tow my Jeep. Is that a different Gauge then the ones that you listed? and the X-monitor can watch up to 4 things?

The gauge that monitors EGT is called a pyro gauge. You tell them what you want it to monitor when you order it. You can get them with up to four different functions, or less if you don't need all of them. Without the fueling box I don't think you really need to monitor anything extra, but with the fueling box you will need a pyro guage. Monitoring boost is just for fun, as far as I can tell. With your automatic tranny you will want to monitor your tranny temp. I would like to monitor my fuel pressure so I can catch problems like fuel pumps and clogged filters before they do any further damage. Pyro and tranny temp are the most important ones for you.

Thanks for all your help. One more question, where is a good place to get this x-monitor and also are they hard to install? or am I better off having someone else do it?

that surprises me...

I know that they are not big on letting you buy something that is just going to give you trouble later on, like putting a 100 pony chip in without at least strongly recommending a set of gauges and a exhaust to keep up with the chip.

It kind of like selling someone a 4"lift and not telling them they will need a longer driveline or two, a pitman arm and longer brakelines to do anything with it. You can get by without the extras but in the long run you wouldn't want to.
