Bad service sucks... no questions there. But we are victoms of our own economy. Up here in Logan, where we have the lowest unemployment rate in the nation, we have a seroius problem. Why would you work for $7 when you can go down the road and get $10? So, all those $7 jobs get filled by people who have either worked, and got fired from, all the other $10 jobs, or just are not willing to put forth the effort to do the small things, like brush your teeth..
I run three gas stations up here, and will tell you that I have alot of these people. I wish that I didn't, but if they are all that apply, what can i do.
AND THEN..... and this drives me nuts..... What is the best way to deal with a problem employee?? Even the decent ones, know that they can walk out at any minute and have another job tomorrow that pays just as good or better. So, me, and the boss can ***** them out for being lazy, poor customer service, etc. And they walk. I can try and be nice and the "cool" boss and inspire them to work harder, and for some this works, but most want to take that as a cue to try and walk over you. So again you are back to having only work relese meth heads apply.
Is there a better way? While we are still in this "good" economy, and everyone is hiring, we have to take what we can get, the good news is that one day that will change, and there will be more workers than jobs, and people will have to actualy try to keep their jobs. And untill this changes, customer service will not improve.
