Yesterday was the first time I have driven on a snowy road with dual lockers. Man they can be pretty unpredictible. Which way is it going to pull next? I think next time I will go with a front ARB.

Yeah, it can be an adventure for sure. My rig is off-road only, or it definitely wouldn't have a Detroit in front. I think the dual lockers are a hoot when wheeling in the snow though.

It may take a little getting used to but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yea, after I got used to my old TJ I loved having them at both ends...I began to be able to predict the unpredictable and the that made it more fun. Of course having the Rubicon now makes it nice because my wife can drive it when she needs to.

Like a amusment park ride!

You must be alert at all times. I almost turned out one hub and drove in three wheel drive. maybe that would be even worse. My biggest problem was the ice under the snow.

I love fully locked in the snow! It is more fun that way!

I do miss my Discovery at this time of year though. I have never driven a vehicle that handled better in the snow.

Maybe it's just me but they are invisible. I prefer fully locked in any condition. Unless the snow is super deep I would never even think of locking in the front end on the street. With an open diff vehicle like my F350 ya I would probably turn it on sooner but that is because I'm working 1 wheel drive in the back and 1 one drive in the front compared to being locked you have true 2 wheel drive out back. So in my eyes open and open = rear locked.

I'm willing to help you out! I have a couple of open axels and am willing to trade:D

I don't think there is anything worse than being fully locked on icy roads.... When my front driveshaft was at home on the work bench!

I almost didn't make it to Christmas :ugh: :hickey:

What?? You know what I mean though....I would rather have true two wheel drive by having a locker in the rear then two open axles which is really 1 front 1 rear tire getting power.

In my Powerstroke, I definitely wouldn't drive it in much snow without the front locked in. It has a limited slip in the rear I'm pretty sure (one wheel never sits 'n spins), but it just doesn't want to move in 2WD. Not enough weight/traction over the rear to make it work out. In 4WD it's pretty unstoppable on snowy roads though.....I'm guessing BECAUSE all of that ridiculous amount of weight over the front axle.

I'd have to echo that exact sentiment about my PowerJoke.

I just took the Jeep for a spin to pick up one my kids. The spool in the rear is kinda ridiculous. Reminds me of a three wheeler in the snow :D

Same with my Cummins. The weight up front is like an anchor and the rear spins around it quite easily when it's slick & in 2wd.

My dually is actually surprising in 2 dig.... it just goes, and goes straight. I thought for sure I'd have to turn the chip off in the snow, but it was fine on 3.

with lockers you might end up in the ditch...but at least you have the traction to pull yourself out of the ditch. I like my lockers, I just slow down a little on Ice. makes you drive cautious, which we should all do anyway.
