Todd Adams said:OK here is a notion, this is the Easter Jeep Safari right? You can only register for the EJS if you have a street legal vehicle that has a currant license, registration and insurance. .
ZUKEYPR said:Common my friend you can't sell that to anyone. Yes, they have to be licensed, registered, and insured but that doesn't mean that they are street legal. Anyone that has ever participated in the event can attest to the fact that there are many that would not be street legal. They might not be flat out rock buggies, but a lot have tires to wide, tires that are not covered, missing mud flaps, or flaps that do not meet code, non-jeep vehicles with removed doors (ILLEGAL), off-road lights above 53 inches, illegal exhaust, bumpers that don't cover the track width. Need I go on. Just something to think about if you don't have a rock buggy but are still heading down there.

I heard there were like 7 all in on it. One being a captain that was given information on it before 4 or 5 of the guys got busted with kids in their beds. The source was a gentleman that used to go to school with me and worked security jobs on the side. He had a lot of dirt on a lot of people and worked close with the feds as a snitch. It was a few years ago, I think he said they were listed!!!! They investigated and some guys got off and others switched departments/jobs but didn't serve jail time. It matters not what I do, only that I know and knowing is half the battle!!!!! I don't mind cops, but some have a chip on there shoulder.

peckertrax said:Is it true that you can only register a rig for EJS if it is street legal? Never heard of this but.....
Todd Adams said:Different states have different laws regarding what is able to be licensed. To register for the EJS you have to have a current license in the state you live. So a rig might have more tire sticking out if licensed in Idaho than Utah but they all have to comply with Utah State Laws to be legal to drive on the street in Utah. This is one of the main reasons we were able to convince our legislators to relax the lift laws that were in effect a few years ago. So I stand on what I said.
With that said, I have taken the chance of a ticket with our Jeep taking the windshield and flairs off to run around Moab.

Title 18, a state cannot enforce their motor vehicle safety codes on a vehicle that is registered out of state, if said vehicle complies to all of it's home states rules and regulations. Yes they can right you a citation, but it will never hold up in court. They are banking on you not to be willing to come back to the state and fight it. I've been down this road to many times
